Now, Rock Chick is the story of India "Indy" Savage and Liam "Lee" Nightingale. Indy has been in love with Lee since they were children, but she's given up on ever having a relationship with him. Lee now runs Nightingale Investigations and has transformed into a scary bad boy. But when Indy gets in trouble and finds herself dodging bullets, being kidnapped and stun gunned, there's no one else to turn to but Lee. But Lee has another goal in mind besides just keeping Indy alive. He wants her heart and he'll stop at nothing to get it. To read the official description, please look on Goodreads.

The first thing that I want to applaud Kristen Ashley for is that she uses a first person point of view. We follow the story of Indy from her perspective. And Kristen Ashley rocks this point of view. Throughout the story, the reader is made to feel that Indy is a friend, just telling this crazy love story over a drink. Even when Ashley takes us into a bit of Indy's past, she does so in such a way that it seems as if Indy is just remembering that you weren't around back then and the story won't completely make sense without that little bit of background.

It doesn't make it seem as if we're following around in Indy's head, but as if she is a close friend and from what she's saying we understand what's going on through her head. But at the same time, Kristen Ashley lets us know what is going on in Indy's head so we understand a bit more about what's going on and why she's reacting certain ways. It was a book that kept me hooked and not just because of the romance and characters or plot. The first person point of view helped to keep me interested and entranced with Rock Chick.

But this isn't the only thing that kept me hooked. The characters were also a contributing factor. Indy seems to be that girl that grew up, but did it in such a way that she can still act a little immature and no one thinks anything of it. Not to mention she seems entirely crazy but not in the clinical way. More so the way that she does anything she wants without caring what people think or the consequences. It seemed that I was constantly trying to figure out what Indy would do or say next and failing every time because she did things that any entirely sane person wouldn't necessarily do. Then comes Lee, the alpha bad boy who can be a little frightening at times. Strike that little and add a lot frightening. He exudes an air that is easily meant to say 'Don't mess with me' and yet when Indy is telling her story the readers get a glimpse at a Lee that isn't scary, just alpha and expecting his orders to be obeyed. And yet with all of that alpha, macho man behaviour, he doesn't seem to be controlling Indy. It was a great balance, and Kristen Ashley displays it perfectly! Never mind that Indy is more likely to mouth off at Lee's orders than anything else.

Kristen Ashley also introduces us to characters like Ally Nightingale, the even crazier, rock chick best friend of Indy, Hank Nightingale, Lee's straight laced but in no way boring brother, Tex McMillan, the crazy, serial killer looking, new coffee guy that quickly jumps into the fray, and so many more. All of the characters were interesting and unique. In no way can you say that these characters were boring or not amusing. Except maybe Jane, but she doesn't get much air time and is the quiet observer throughout the book. 

Then there's the plot. It never really seems to slow down. Even when there aren't car chases, bombings or kidnappings, we've still got Nightingale Investigations or Fortnum's. Fortnum's is an amazing place and I really wish it was real. I would move to Denver just so that I could go to Fortnum's everyday and get caught up in the drama that seems to be constantly going down. It's entertainment at it's best and I found myself looking forward to those scenes set in Fortnum's. It was just an amazing book that kept you intrigued and amused every step of the way.

If you read this book, you will not be disappointed. Between the interesting places, characters and plot line, you will not for one second be bored. I recommend this book to romance lovers, but if you're into action and romance, this fills the bill too. It's an amazing book as well as a great beginning of the series, and I really suggest you check it out!
