“Uh oh. I know that look.”

The sound of Cassie’s voice startled Theo. She moved around the table and took the same seat Jonah previously occupied. She sipped from a to-go cup that was similar to the one in his hands. Guess he’d been so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn’t seen her enter the coffee shop.

Damn, his day just got better.

“And what look would that be, sugar?”

Cassie didn’t miss a beat as she shot back, “The same one you always had when you were in trouble. Have you been a bad boy, Theo McCabe?”

Not yet, but when the final act of his seduction came into play, he’d be the biggest bad boy she’d ever seen.

What the Heart Desires by Kelli McCracken

Dylan is struggling to come to terms with everything and make sure his child and Heaven are safe. Layne is developing his abilities and struggling with his feelings for Heaven. Meanwhile Heaven is trying to make sure her baby is safe as well as keeping the peace between Dylan and Layne. Tensions rise, and things will quickly come to the boiling point. OH MY GOODNESS THIS BOOK! This book series has been keeping me on my toes but What the Heart Desires takes it to the breaking point! I just.....all the way through this book I was trying to decide if I was going to end up in tears or wanting to growl and groan at someone(preferably a character and not a friend). The plot was interesting, high emotions, and that cliffhanger left me begging for the next book! Or at least the first chapter. I would read the next book chapter by slow chapter if that's the way I had to read it. The shockers just kept coming.

The characters were also developing and your emotions about the characters are constantly in flux. Dylan, Layne and Heaven as well as their families are so difficult to deal with at times and yet you can't put the book down!

I had such a hard time not reading this book all in one sitting, but there was homework to get done and classes to get through. So it was a struggle but I was able to.

If you're a fan of romances with soul mates than you need to check this series out!

What the Heart Takes by Kelli McCracken

Dylan and Heaven are expecting. But they can't enjoy it as Dylan's father still threatens Heaven. And Dylan is finding that his relationship with Layne, his best friend seems to be stressed to the point of breaking. Can he keep Heaven safe, while allowing Layne to be as close to Heaven as a Keeper should be? Find the official description on Goodreads.

The plot line for What the Heart Takes continues the series and there's never a dull moment. What with Dylan and Layne struggling with their feelings, secrets coming to life, Heaven trying to deal with everything that's going on and the ongoing threat to Heaven's life, the book just seems to fly by! 

As I've always said I enjoy the soul mate connection between Dylan and Heaven but I also heard about Heaven and Layne's developing relationship and I don't know what to think. It's a complicated book emotion wise.

There were certainly several secrets that I did not expect, and the surprises just seem to keep on coming. That cliffhanger ending also increased my desire to read the next book.

What the Heart Takes continues the Soul Mates series marvelously, continuing with the good writing style that Kelli McCracken is maintaining.

What the Heart Needs by Kelli McCracken

Heaven and Dylan thought everything would be fine. But now everyone seems to be keeping a secret and Dylan has to deal with the fact that he might not be the best choice to keep Heaven safe. Will the secrets cause the two to drown? Find the official description on Goodreads.

I was so glad to get to continue the story of Heaven and Dylan in What the Heart Needs. Especially because things haven't really slowed down, not really. And it's worse this time because it's not necessarily the antagonist causing some of the problems. But I'll shush to keep spoilers safe. 

Kelli McCracken kept the drama rolling, emotional or physical and the writing style was good, easy to fall in to. I especially love the fact that the action wasn't necessarily all about the physical violence or issues going on. But that didn't make the book any less interesting. If anything it made it much more interesting. 

There are still some things that haven't been uncovered and I found myself reading for the relationships being formed or uncovered as well as the story of Heaven and Dylan. 

I'm always a sucker for Soul Mate romances and so this book is right up my ally. Especially because the characters are far from perfect and not everything is perfect all the time.

Dylan and Heaven have been dreaming about a stranger. A stranger of the opposite sex. When they meet, it's clear to Dylan at least that his dreams have just become reality. The feelings and memories in this book were really well described. It was really easy to understand what was going on with each of the characters and to see what had happened in their memories of the past. And those memories were so sweet. 

I'm always a sucker for soul mate romances, and What the Heart Wants did not disappoint. It had enough drama, external and internal to make things difficult but it also had those sweet moments that are almost too sweet? 

We're given both characters perspectives, and that's the majority of the book. But we also get one or two small chapters in other characters perspectives. And that was an interesting experience. It let me understand some of the other characters motives rather than just think they were pains in the butts.

The writing was good, and solid. I definitely enjoyed What the Heart Wants and can't wait to read more about Heaven and Dylan!

Only in Time by Kelli McCracken

Kelli McCracken really showed the pain of her characters, the feelings they felt and everything that possibly could go wrong did. It made it much easier to find myself in the character's perspective because of this. And the perspectives of the characters certainly made sense but still it felt slightly sad about some of the opinions they held.

The romance in this book was difficult, took it's time and had plenty of speed bumps. But it was very realistic. Except for one incident that ultimately got the two together. But it was certainly an interesting incident, and one that gave a different view on the past events.

There were numerous times I wanted to shake the characters, laugh at them or just make them see sense. But the journey was certainly worth it in the end.

Only In Time is a good read, especially if you're looking for a romance.
