Hunter by Mandy Harbin

Hunter (The Bang Shift Series)
By Mandy Harbin
Genre: Military, Romantic Suspense

After finally getting out of her disastrous relationship, Maya Carmichael has sworn off all bad boys. Sure they’re hot. The attitude? No thanks. But when her car is vandalized while on a night out with her roommate, she realizes her ex is truly sadistic. Her friend insists they lay low for a few days while the cops do their thing. Unfortunately her temporary haven will throw her in the path of another bad boy. Oh, she’s heard stories about her roommate’s brother, Hunter, and he’s just the type she wants to avoid. Until she sees him … and all good intentions fly out of her busted windshield.

Hunter Anderson might be the easygoing jokester within the Bang Shift crew—the small Arkansas town’s mechanics and the government’s secret mercenaries—but underneath his lighthearted exterior lurks demons of a past he’d love nothing more than to forget. Working on cars and taking the occasional contracted mission help, but he fears nothing will stop his past from coming back to haunt him. No one has tried penetrating the façade to get to the real person below. No one, until Maya.

The attraction is undeniable, but there’s more to Hunter than he can ever let on, and for Maya, this hot distraction makes it easy to forget the real danger she’s in. It has nothing to do with losing her heart to him.

When really it has everything to do with just that.

Review:

Hunter lives up to the first book in the Bang Shift Series. It involved action, but it wasn't constantly going on and sometimes it didn't even have to do with the bad guys. There's also the fact that there were some interesting connections that I didn't understand until they were explained and there were numerous connections made during the book that will be interesting to see play out in further books. They gave you something to whet your appetite and it definitely makes you crave more.

That being said the story and characters of Hunter and Maya were beautifully done. There were flaws, they were far from perfect, and that was clear in their interactions and thoughts. They struggled just as we do but they also had the additional difficulty of the main plot of the book to deal with as well as trying to resist one another.

If you enjoyed Brody, then you will certainly love to read Hunter and look forward to further books in the series. And if you haven't read either book, you should certainly give them a look!

Brody by Mandy Harbin Tour!

Brody (The Bang Shift Series)
by Mandy Harbin
Genre: Military, Romantic Suspense

Brody “Brutus” Jackson isn’t your average small-town mechanic. The shop where he spends his days doubles as the headquarters for the mercenary group he works with. They jokingly call themselves the Bang Shift because the government contracts they take are the less savory ones, and they’re all just shady enough to do what’s necessary to get the jobs done. As far as Brody’s concerned, it’s the perfect arrangement for a man with no memory of his past, and no hope for the future.

Under FBI protection, Alexandria Collins and her son have been in hiding for ten years. When it’s time to move again, her piece of crap car breaks down and the man giving her a tow is the biggest, hottest guy she’s ever seen. She is determined to ignore the need her long-neglected body hungers for. After all, the last man she showed interest in put a gun to her head.

Brody thinks the skittish Xan is sexy as hell, but it’s not her hot body that has him rocked to his core. He knows her from somewhere, and in his line of work, that’s a dangerous thing. Following orders have never been this hard, but he will protect her at all costs … even if what she needs protection from is him.

Review:

Let me tell you, this book starts off with a bang and it doesn't slow down...like ever. Alexandria's back story comes out pretty quickly and it's not a pretty one. But when are they ever? Brody's might be even worse. Although you don't really get his back story except in bits and pieces and that is actually a benefit to the reader. Because he's got memory loss  and it almost feels as if you're right there in the dark with him. So I enjoyed the fact that as Brody discovers himself so too do you. And then the first scene really threw me off. When I started reading Brody, it had been a couple of weeks since I'd read the plot and I honestly didn't expect Alexandria could have survived what she did. So yes, I really enjoyed the plot of the book.

There were laughs, tears and anger. But the book didn't stop to let you catch your breath. Brody and Alexandria will set you on fire and the twists will just keep coming. You will not be sorry if you pick up this series!

The writing was great! It was easy to get involved in, easy to lose yourself in. And the characters were ones that were really well developed. Mandy Harbin has certainly created another reader for her series.

So, if you haven't already figured it out, I highly recommend that you read Brody! Like right now!
