New Thing that I randomly thought up.

Alright, so I was thinking at work(an nod about work but it was really quiet so it's allowed I think). But anyway, back to the thinking. While I'm really enjoying the blogging experience so far I've found that sometimes it can be hard to read books that I have looked forward to or that I would like to reread. So in two weeks(possibly longer depending on my schedule) I'd like to start a new regular blog post. It will be a review. But there's a catch. It will be a review about a book I've reread. So while I know you can never get that first time reading a book back I really would like to share my love of books that may be well known and that I've already read but haven't since starting this blog.
So yes, that's my new idea. What do you guys think?

Question for You!

Blah, I feel like I haven't done one of these posts in a while! But I'm happy to be posting something other than a review or tour stop or book related thing....okay well it won't be entirely non-book related but whatever. You get my drift. So, little update, still working like a bee in order to get money for school. Now I'm also trained in several different departments(or I will be soon) so yay for learning new things! Plus I got this great opportunity to read even more books and review them over at The Booklanders! I'm excited for this new opportunity. But no worries, I'm not going to let that interfere with Reading Shy. I've still got plenty planned for the next few months and I look forward to making even more plans.

So, it's summer(or will be in a few days officially, I mean). Ready for it? What are your plans for summer? What are you planning to read? I have several books that I'm looking forward to reading! Some from my favorite authors, others from authors that were unknown to me before. It's all a great big adventure! 

Now, I have one more question for you all. What do you think about me including my own description of the books and then linking to the official Goodreads description? Would you rather I just linked to the Goodreads description or included it in my post? I'd like to hear what my readers think about it and go from there. I'm sort of biased in that way so I need some objective opinions. What do you think?

It's Wednesday...Yet Feels Like a Monday

So, remember how last month I was complaining about it not feeling like summer? Now it feels much too summery. Especially because I can't open my window and my door has to remain closed to save some pets from being eaten by our cats. Thankfully I have a fan but still it's super hot and muggy. 

Anywho, it's just been one of those days. You know the kind, where everything is going wrong and you're feeling all overwhelmed and you just want to go to bed but you can't because you have to work later on? Yeah, and I'm having issues with my insurance after having just fixed my health card problems and blech. Paperwork sucks. Let's just say that.

Also, boo the Montreal Canadiens didn't make it to the finals. :( But I guess it could have ended way sooner and at least they made it as far as they did. There's always next year! 

Speaking of that, does anyone know when the NHL draft is? I'm curious as to who the NHL will be drafting.

Anyway, I'm bored. I'm still working and I have a lot of shifts so that means money coming in but I've also got plenty of time to read and I can't find any new books to read. So, if you want to suggest any, feel free. 

I can't wait until June 10th when Toni Aleo's Breaking Away comes out! That's so exciting and I'm pretty sure I don't work till that night so I'm buying it as soon as I wake up and reading it all day!

There's a mother who will do anything to help/keep her kids safe and a mobster as well as a gangster. That's pretty much guaranteed to cause trouble of the gun toting kind. Not only that but the plot is fascinating.

I'm going to repeat the above warning, just in case. This book contains sexual content and is not for younger audiences. 

Now, Rock Chick is the story of India "Indy" Savage and Liam "Lee" Nightingale. Indy has been in love with Lee since they were children, but she's given up on ever having a relationship with him. Lee now runs Nightingale Investigations and has transformed into a scary bad boy. But when Indy gets in trouble and finds herself dodging bullets, being kidnapped and stun gunned, there's no one else to turn to but Lee. But Lee has another goal in mind besides just keeping Indy alive. He wants her heart and he'll stop at nothing to get it. To read the official description, please look on Goodreads.

The first thing that I want to applaud Kristen Ashley for is that she uses a first person point of view. We follow the story of Indy from her perspective. And Kristen Ashley rocks this point of view. Throughout the story, the reader is made to feel that Indy is a friend, just telling this crazy love story over a drink. Even when Ashley takes us into a bit of Indy's past, she does so in such a way that it seems as if Indy is just remembering that you weren't around back then and the story won't completely make sense without that little bit of background.

Taking Shots by Toni Aleo

When I first stumbled upon this book, I had ulterior motives. I've always been into hockey but just before I found the Assassin's Series, my brother had bought season tickets for a local major junior(or flip that, I can never keep it straight!) team. Which meant that when I'm home from university I get to go their games! This meant I fell even deeper in love with the game of hockey and as such I began looking for books that had that and romance. Because I'm just that kinda gal. But when I stumbled upon Taking Shots, I didn't think that I would fall in love with the character or series as a whole. But I did, and now I can't wait until June 10th when Breaking Away comes out! Seriously, it feels like a looooooong time away. Now as another warning for those of you who are rebels and ignore warnings in big bold letters, this book does contain swearing(which isn't really too bad anyway) but more to the point it contains sexual content, and this means that it is not for younger audiences. So please, don't read this book unless you're old enough to. Thank you!

Small Update

Okay, so yes I realize that I have yet to post an actual post about books. But I'm working on it, I promise you! I just thought that I'd give you a small update on what my thoughts are going forward.

I thought I'd share a little of how I got started reading. I don't really remember when I first learned to read but since I was little, books always interested me. But it wasn't until the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling that I became addicted. My family always has this Christmas tradition where we all meet up and just celebrate being together. And they also have a present swap. So the way that would work is that the kids would choose from one hat with all of the kids names, and the adults would do the same except for the adults. Now, my cousin was the one who got my name and the only thing she could think of to get me was books. Up until now I had always said that I wouldn't read the Harry Potter Series, who knows why. But my cousin got me the first four books that Christmas and because it  was a present I felt obligated to read them.
