Homecoming by Jackie Sexton

(Image found on NetGalley)
"She knew that as a Michaelson girl she had to be careful." -Jackie Sexton, Homecoming

Airane is the quiet girl that often sinks into the background. Liam's the bad boy of Hollywood and is on a downward spiral of addiction to pain medication. But when they meet sparks fly. Can their love survive Hollywood and Liam's drug addiction or will it all spiral out of control? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Jackie Sexton has created realistic characters. And not only this but a large variety of people can connect with at least one of the characters. Ariane is quiet, shy, a wallflower really(I know all about that, haha) so it made it really easy for people to fall in love with her. Especially if they were the same way. It also made her really easily accessible to readers and I loved the inner dialogue we would be given. It was amusing and gave us a glimpse of Ariane's character that is hidden behind the wallflower. Then there's Liam. He was the bad boy of Hollywood, literally. But learning his history, you might understand some of the influencing factors although I don't fully understand them as they're not something I've faced myself.

The plot was really good. There were plenty of happy moments but then there were those moments where everything seemed to be going wrong. The only thing I really had against things was I thought Liam should have had to grovel a bit more. But considering they were in love and Airane's the forgiving type I could understand the quickness of her forgiving him.

I found myself also enjoying the interactions between a couple of the minor characters for sure. They were witty, sarcastic and it was really nice to see someone in Hollywood that didn't much care for people who were against people that weren't stick thin. It made the book that much better for those of us who are slightly curvy and sometimes battle the body image issues that come with it.

Love Reborn by Victoria Bright

(Image found on Goodreads)
"He wished that he were able to function like a normal person and not a grieving fiancé."-Victoria Bright, Love Reborn
WARNING: This book contains sexual content and is not for younger readers.

Ahmed lost the love of his life and has vowed to never love another. But she is watching him and tries her best to send a message through Paris, a trainer that Ahmed hires to help him out. It helps that Ahmed has caught the attention of an editor of a tabloid magazine, Whitney O'Neal. But will he finally be able to let go? Or will Ahmed lose his chance at love? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Readers are thrown right in and I love that we get to see Victoria Bright's take on angels, heaven and everything in between. Not everyone is going to have the same thoughts on the subject and it's always nice to get someone else's perspective.

Ahmed's emotions run deep and Victoria Bright has no problem showing them and in such a way that she's not pushing them too far. It's easy to see the pain he is in but he also has a sense of humour and acts childish around his best friend. She also shows that he has baggage without constantly bringing it up and the same goes for Whitney.

The only thing I was iffy on was Paris but I think that's just because she was an angel in disguise and I couldn't quite connect with her? I almost felt as if I couldn't make a connection with her and so she certainly wasn't my favourite character.

Other than that I really enjoyed Love Reborn. It was an interesting read.
