Protecting Jessyka by Susan Stoker!

(Image found on Goodreads)

Benny is the last single man on his team. Seeing the happiness and love surrounding him made it hard to handle being  near his friends, even if he thought they deserved everything they had. But he noticed Jessyka, the waitress that always waits on them. And something is going on. Jessyka is in a bad situation and Benny is determined to help. Developing a friendship the two slowly move towards something more. Find the official description on Goodreads.

I can very much understand Benny's thought process. Although it would have sucked to split up the team. And Jessyka is really strong. You can see that.

The plot is unique and for one of the SEAL Teams it's actually a slower romance. Usually in one of the SEALS of Protection series, the romance develops at lightning speed. Not so with Benny and Jessyka.

The sense of family and the ability of the women and other men to draw the newer members into their family is very strong within these books and it's something I love!

Finally it sets up both Tex's book and the Delta Force books. Something I can't wait for because I know Susan Stoker is a great writer, and I can't wait for more from her!

42 Hours by Bethany Lopez

42 Hours
by Bethany Lopez
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ NA Romance

Eight years ago, Scott and Gaby shared one very special night. Not wanting to ruin their friendship, they didn't take things further...but neither of them has forgotten.

When Scott’s friends stage an intervention to make him realize that his fiancĂ©, Victoria, is all wrong for him, he takes time to evaluate his life. He’s earned a big promotion and just bought his dream car, but those things are just superficial. The one time he was truly happy, was with Gaby.

Gaby is in a good place in her life. She loves her job, has the best friends and family a girl could ask for, and is dating a sweet and sexy guy, but she’s never stopped thinking about that night with Scott.

Eager to find happiness again, Scott makes a plan to win Gaby’s heart during a weekend getaway, but she doesn’t want to be his rebound girl. Will 42 hours be enough to convince Gaby that it's finally their time for love?

REVIEW:

Both characters were well written and were people that many would understand and feel in touch with. It wasn't hard to find yourself in their shoes and reading the book as if it was a story you had been part of.

There was one shocker that honestly I did see coming but only because it wouldn't have been as interesting without it. It was intriguing to watch everything play out and eventually be worked out.

Bethany Lopez has created a good, strong book for readers to enjoy.

Across the Distance by Marie Meyer

About ACROSS THE DISTANCE
There's a drawer I never open. It holds a picture I never look at. It reminds me of a day I hate to remember, but I'll never forget.
I'd give anything to be like the other girls on campus. Going to parties, flirting with boys, planning for a future. But that's not me. And hasn't been since the day my parents died. The only thing that got me through was Griffin. Even though I didn't have my family, I always had him. Only, now I'm not so sure I do.

It's not just the eleven hundred miles separating us now that I'm at college. Or his band finally taking off, and all the gigs and girls suddenly demanding his time. It's as if everything is different-the way we talk, the way we text . . . the way he looks at me and the way those looks make me feel.

Griffin has been the only good thing in my life since that horrific day. But I can feel our friendship slipping away-and I'm terrified of what will be left in its place . . .

The Girl He Knows by Kristi Rose

(Image found on Goodreads)

Hank has been in love with Paisley for a very long time. Paisley doesn't think of Hank as more than her best friend's brother or so she tries to tell herself. But after one night of sex, she can't ignore him any longer, even though she tries. But Hank offers her a way out; a no strings attached fling. But when Paisley has to confront her old fears and insecurities will Hank finally give up on her? Find the official description on Goodreads.

We start out the morning after Paisley sleeps with Hank....and let me just tell you that was a fun scene to witness. I think I was laughing or chuckling the whole time right through until Paisley finally gets away. It was hilarious. It was fun. And it got the reader interested. After all, in this day and age who cares who sleeps with who(barring diseases and such)? So it was really fun to hear Paisley's monologue and hear some of the reasons she feels sleeping with Hank is wrong.

I enjoyed the characters of Hank and Paisley. Hank just a bit more. He was a real gentlemen and for the most part a guy that any girl would be lucky to have. However he does have a few faults to make him seem less perfect and more real as well as more 3D. I wanted to see more of Hank but could also understand that it is Paisley narrating and so it didn't always seem plausible that we'd get as much time with Hank as much as the readers would like.

The Girl He Knows also gave me warm, fuzzy feelings. It felt good to see friends portrayed as people who will stand by you no matter what. It isn't always true but in books, it's nice to read situations where friends are there for each other and help each other out. It was amazing to read that situation and it was something I enjoyed.

If you like romance and amazing friendships, than maybe you should give The Girl He Knows a chance. It releases on August 18th, 2014!
