Their passion burns white hot. But danger is heartless and cold.
Hot Desert Heroes, Book 1
Delaney Murphy has had a stomach-fluttering, mouth-watering crush on Beck since the first time she saw him over the rim of her regular morning latte. But she's never been long on self-confidence, especially around exceptionally handsome men.
After a year of avoiding him, she's shocked when he slides into the next chair and wears down her resistance to a first date.
When Laney is laid off from her job, Marines special ops veteran Beck "Gravedigger" Townsend wastes no time hiring the quiet, auburn-haired beauty into Red Eagle Group, his security firm. Keeping her within touching distance—and under his protection.
Laney's smile and sharp intelligence light up Beck's life and heat up his bed, yet he hesitates to give her what she really wants: full access to the darkest corners of his wounded spirit. But when danger is delivered right to Red Eagle's door, the only way to save her—and their love—will be to bleed. Body and soul…
Warning: Adult language and graphic sex scenes between a man locked behind his secrets, and a woman ready to break free of her past. If you think the desert is hot, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Drops of Rain by Kathryn Andrews

(Image found via Goodreads)

After Ali's mother dies, her father moves them. And then disappears, hiding away at his work. Ali feels alone, and dancing is her refuge. Drew is counting down the days until he can drive far away from his home. But when he runs into the girl who will prove his biggest distraction, he might just find that maybe home isn't so bad. Find the official description on Goodreads.

I really liked the writing style and the character's voices in Drops of Rain. It was easy to sit down, promise I'd read only 50 pages or one chapter and before I knew it an hour or two had passed and I was farther than I had thought I would be. Drops of Rain drew me in quickly, making me interested and pulling me in with little problem.

The plot line was great! It was hard to read but at the same time, it was dealing with issues that are difficult to deal with and so it should be hard to read. Or at least during those parts.

It was really easy to get attached to Ali and Drew. Both were just trying to find their way and discover who they were or find something better than what they had. It was a beautiful story and I think a lot of people can relate to the struggle of both at least partially.

Drops of Rain was a painful, emotional read but it was well worth it!

Marine for Hire by Tawna Fenske

(Image found on Goodreads)

Sheri has sworn off of military men after her ex-husband cheats and then leaves her alone with twin boys. But Mac, Sheri's brother knows that Sheri has been having trouble with her ex lately. Determined to protect her, even if it means lying to her, he gets Sam, a marine, to be nanny and protector to Sheri. Although Sheri isn't to know about the second part of the job. But Sam soon becomes determined to protect Sheri for different reasons than just helping out an old buddy and repaying a favor. But can he get her to forget her vow, and his lies? Or will Sam lose his new family? Find the official description on Goodreads.

I did enjoy this book, mostly because of the humorous inner dialogue of Sheri. Not to mention several different characters we meet throughout the book. Sheri was constantly talking and many of her thoughts were really funny if a little self-depreciating. But that just served to make Sheri more relatable. Everyone probably gets down on themselves mentally(I know I do) so this inner dialogue made Sheri even more real than she had already appeared.

Then there was Sam. He carries a weight all his own around and I am just glad that I don't have to carry it. It great to see that he wasn't as perfect as he seemed. There are things that trip him up and not even he can do everything well the first time. It definitely made him human.

I also enjoyed the fact that we got time with the twins, mostly with their mother or Sam. It was those cute little things that the twins did that definitely made the book stand out to me.

This book is great in the relationships and characters that were brought to life. Nothing and nobody was too perfect or too wacky or anything like that. It was perfect in that way and I think that the characters really brought the story to life. Marine for Hire is being released on July 21st according to Goodreads. Go give it a look!
