Rescuing Rayne by Susan Stoker!

Rescuing Rayne (Delta Force Heroes Book 1) by Susan Stoker

Date of Publication: February 9, 2016

Blurb

As a flight attendant, Rayne Jackson is used to cancellations, but she never dreamed her latest would lead to a whirlwind tour of London with a handsome stranger…or a life-altering night in his bed. One evening is all the enigmatic man can give her, and Rayne greedily takes it, despite suspecting it will never be enough.

Heading home after another extreme mission, Keane "Ghost" Bryson hadn't planned to seduce someone during his layover, but Rayne is too sweet to resist. Being a Delta Force member means lying to protect his identity, which is unfortunate, considering Rayne seems made for Ghost, right down to the tattoo on her back. For the first time in his life, regret fills him as he slips away the following morning.

Both are shocked when, months later, they meet again—under the worst possible circumstances. Seems fate has given them a second chance…if they can survive the terrorist situation they're in. If Rayne can forgive Ghost his lies. And if Ghost can trust Rayne to be strong enough to endure the secrets and uncertainty that come with loving a Delta Force soldier.

** Rescuing Rayne is the 1st book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Review:
Rescuing Rayne by Susan Stoker is a great start to a new series! I am so glad that I took the time to read this book! It was different enough from Stoker's other works to make it distinct in my mind and yet it still holds all of the action, and romance that I have come to expect from Susan Stoker. The writing was superb and I was instantly caught up in the lives of Rayne and Ghost.

Rayne was an intriguing character. She had flaws and yet not enough to make her less personable or someone that would be a frustrating character. She was a likable character that seemed as real as a friend. Ghost follows the same pattern in the personable character but there were also some times you wanted to smack him upside the head, while actually there were a couple of times for each character. But considering that was more from their choices it wasn't as if it was frustrating in a I don't like this character way more of a goodness gracious you are making a stupid decision way.

Susan Stoker has created another great start to what seems to be a great series.

"Is this seat taken?"

Ghost turned toward the low, husky voice that immediately made him think of sex. He'd been aware that she'd been walking toward him, as he was of everyone who moved around him. He was always on alert, ready to take whatever action might be needed. It was engrained in the very marrow of his bones.

A brunette stood next to him. Her hair was pulled back into a bun at the nape of her neck. There were wisps of hair hanging around her face, which had obviously fallen out of their confinement. She was fairly tall, especially in the heels she was wearing. Ghost guessed her to be around five-eight or so. She was pleasantly rounded in all the right places. Her Marilyn Monroe physique was a turn on, as was the bright smile she was aiming his way.

Her accent gave away the fact she was American. She was wearing a navy blue skirt and shirt, and was pulling a blue suitcase and a small matching bag behind her. Obviously an employee of the airline, a flight attendant, she greeted him warmly.

Ghost shook his head and gestured toward the seat, inviting the woman to sit next to him.

"Thanks."

The woman sat down, opened the small blue bag, and fished out her cell phone. She turned to him and asked, "Going somewhere fun?"

Ghost wasn't sure he really wanted to get into a chat, but he was bored, and he might as well pass the time. He'd never been one to reject an opportunity to talk and flirt with a pretty woman. "Home."

His one-word answer didn't seem to daunt the flight attendant. "Ah, American. Where's home?"

"Texas."

"Really? Me too! How funny that we're going to the same place. Out of all the people I could've sat next to, I picked someone who was going to be on my flight." She laughed. "You are on flight eight twenty-three, right?"

Ghost nodded.

"Cool. But my place in Texas is really more of a place to store my stuff than a home, since I'm usually working. I currently have the European shift. I'm gone more than I'm home."

Ghost smiled inside. The woman was very pretty and her bubbly personality was pleasant. "Yeah, I travel a lot too, so I know what you mean."

She beamed. "Ah, I didn't really peg you as a businessman, but I guess looks can be deceiving, huh?"

"What did you peg me as?"

The woman tilted her head, contemplating his question. Her lips pursed and then she bit her bottom one. Amazingly, Ghost felt himself getting excited.

Jesus, was he that hard up for a woman? He tried to think about when he'd last had the pleasure of a woman's company in his bed, and was amazed to realize he wasn't sure. The team had been busy lately with ISIS ramping up their efforts to cause panic around the world, they hadn't had a lot of time to themselves back home. But it was more that he was tired of all the tag chasers in Texas…women who only wanted to sleep with military men to say they'd done it. Military men were accused of being sex-crazed, but the reality was, around military bases, there were plenty of women who saw marrying a military man as a way out of their destitute existences. Not only that, but some were obsessed with sleeping with as many soldiers as possible.

"Bounty hunter," she said resolutely.

Torn out of his internal thoughts of when he'd last had sex, Ghost chuckled out loud in surprise at her deduction. "Bounty hunter? Really?"

"Uh-huh."

When she didn't elaborate, Ghost crossed his arms over his chest and smiled at her. "Why?"

"Let's see…"

HOOKED BY LOVE

By Toni Aleo

COMING 12.28.2015
Things are out of control for the Sinclair boys! With two already in the NHL, Jace Sinclair is ready to follow in his brothers’ HUGE skates in the last Bellevue Bullies novel…

Jace Sinclair here, and I’m amazing. There is no other way to describe me. I am the leading scorer for the Bellevue Bullies, I’m the captain, and people love me: my family, my teammates, my coach, and the NHL. I already have one foot in the draft and I’m ready. This is my last year in college–it’s basically a conditioning year to get me ready for the NHL, to further my game, and I have to be focused. But then, it’s also my last year to have fun and not give a damn before my life really starts. Which means I’m gonna run through every girl I meet. That’s my plan. Because my one and only love is hockey. It keeps me warm even when it’s freezing. It’s always there when nothing else is. And it pushes me to be the best I can be. It’s my love.

That is, until I see her against a tree with a guitar.

Avery.

The last thing I wanted was to meet anyone. My heart is on the bench because I’ve watched my mom get broken by the person I call my father, and I don’t want that for myself. I don’t want to be hurt by anyone. I can’t give them that power.

But my heart is begging for ice time, and I can’t control it around her.

* * *

I’ve always been in the background. No one has ever had time for me and that’s fine; I’ve learned to cope. Coming from a family where hockey is life, the last thing I want is some big, burly hockey player charging at me. I don’t have time for it, but Jace Sinclair isn’t one to be deked around. The thing is, I came to the University of Bellevue for one reason and one reason only. To make my dreams of being a singer/songwriter come true. To work in the industry and pay my dues. Become who I really want to be.

I didn’t want to meet anyone. I didn’t want to end up freezing the puck with him. It’s not what I want.

I have demons.

I have issues.

Living in the shadows, no one even knew until it was too late. But Jace wants to know.

He wants me.

And that scares me the living hell out of me.

We were so worried about what would happen if we fell, but we never thought what could happen in the process of falling. We never saw it coming. But it’s here, and the repercussions are not pretty. We should have known that there is no way out of the zone when you are being Hooked by Love.

Blackmail Boyfriend by Chris Cannon Review Blitz!

Synopsis

Sometimes, blackmail is the only weapon a girl has…

Haley
Patterson has had a crush on golden boy Bryce Colton for ages. But when
she hears a rumor that he hooked up with her she gives him a choice: be
her boyfriend for a month to show other guys that she’s
dateable—despite her overprotective and very intimidating brothers—or
deal with the angry, cage-fighting boyfriend of the girl he actually did
hook up with.

Bryce didn’t know the other Haley even had a
boyfriend. He was just trying to get his ex off his back. And now, not
only is he being blackmailed, he's being blackmailed by an honor
student. His new “girlfriend” has two three-legged dogs, her father mows
grass at the country club, and she's…well, difficult. And different.

Can something so fake turn into something real?

REVIEW:

This book....there are lots of words to describe it. Interesting, funny, hilarious, but still touching, and emotional. Haley certainly was having a difficult time of things with boys and Bryce certainly isn't helping. But then again there are several things in play that makes it difficult for him.

It's certainly not a plot I've heard much of before and so that made it even more interesting, especially as we watched the relationship play out between Haley and Bryce. It's not an easy ride for either of the two but I think that both grew throughout the story.

The commentary of both Haley and Bryce added insight to their situation and kept the reader interested. Both had a lively dialogue that was easy to follow.

Blackmail Boyfriend was an amazing read and I hope to read more by Chris Cannon!

Face-Off by Stacy Juba

(Image found on Goodreads)

T.J. and Brad are twins, both enjoy playing hockey. But when T.J. has to change schools, their already strained relationship threatens to break. But can they find that together they're stronger? Find the official description on Goodreads.

The thing I really enjoyed about this book is that it wasn't my typical hockey book. Most times I go for hockey romances but this was different. It was intriguing to see a book that does involve hockey without the romance. But at the same time I enjoyed the switch up. It's always nice to take a step outside your comfort zone.

The relationship between the two main characters was strained and awkward. Certainly not the idea you get when you think of twins. It was amusing as well as frustrating to see how their relationship was.

And then just going through and seeing how the two change and grow a bit in their relationships and whatnot was great. It was marvelous to see.

Overall I did enjoy this book although I found that you didn't get a lot of the thoughts that you did read in other books. There was a lot of dialogue more so than other books. Which isn't a bad thing, just different.

I did enjoy the uniqueness of Face-Off and suggest it to anyone who has teenagers or whatnot.

Marine for Hire by Tawna Fenske

(Image found on Goodreads)

Sheri has sworn off of military men after her ex-husband cheats and then leaves her alone with twin boys. But Mac, Sheri's brother knows that Sheri has been having trouble with her ex lately. Determined to protect her, even if it means lying to her, he gets Sam, a marine, to be nanny and protector to Sheri. Although Sheri isn't to know about the second part of the job. But Sam soon becomes determined to protect Sheri for different reasons than just helping out an old buddy and repaying a favor. But can he get her to forget her vow, and his lies? Or will Sam lose his new family? Find the official description on Goodreads.

I did enjoy this book, mostly because of the humorous inner dialogue of Sheri. Not to mention several different characters we meet throughout the book. Sheri was constantly talking and many of her thoughts were really funny if a little self-depreciating. But that just served to make Sheri more relatable. Everyone probably gets down on themselves mentally(I know I do) so this inner dialogue made Sheri even more real than she had already appeared.

Then there was Sam. He carries a weight all his own around and I am just glad that I don't have to carry it. It great to see that he wasn't as perfect as he seemed. There are things that trip him up and not even he can do everything well the first time. It definitely made him human.

I also enjoyed the fact that we got time with the twins, mostly with their mother or Sam. It was those cute little things that the twins did that definitely made the book stand out to me.

This book is great in the relationships and characters that were brought to life. Nothing and nobody was too perfect or too wacky or anything like that. It was perfect in that way and I think that the characters really brought the story to life. Marine for Hire is being released on July 21st according to Goodreads. Go give it a look!
