The Strongest Steel by Scarlett Cole!

I love love loved this book! It captured me right from the start, both characters and plot line drawing me in and entrancing me refusing to let me go! I fell in love with both main characters and at no point did I ever want to put it down. Not until the very end and that was solely because it was coming to an end.

Scarlett Cole has created an amazing book and I look forward to reading the rest of the Second Circle Tattoos books to find out the stories of the other characters!

REVIEW:

There were so many moments in this book where you were sad, or felt awkward or anger. This book definitely makes you feel differing emotions like those of the characters. The author has done a good job with creating characters you can empathize with.

The writing in general was well done. There were no errors and it had a nice flow. There was never any time I felt like I was being wrenched out of the story or had missed soemthing.

Rescuing the Bad Boy isn't only about romance but also friendship and those friendships were awe inspiring to watch. It made me want to spend even more time with my friends since many times I don't get that time with friends I've had for a long time now when I go to school.

Overall, Rescuing the Bad Boy was a great read, well worth the time. Not that it takes much time to finish once you start!

EXCERPT:

Her soft touch landed on Donovan’s arm, and the anger shuddering inside him shifted into an ache. She stepped closer, the warmth between them radiating enough heat to set him on fire. But like the fireplaces he built, he could handle it. He could handle the heat from her, not because he was impervious, but because he was strong enough to soak her in and not burn to ash.
She turned his arm where paint was drying. She swiped at it with her sleeve. “I made a mess.”
He’d forgotten about the paint. “Don’t… I can… There is a shower in the…” He lost his train of thought when she turned those emerald green eyes up to him. He watched her delicate throat work as she swallowed. His eyes traveled up her neck and landed on her mouth. Needing her mouth, he lowered his face, watched her eyes grow dark and wide, watched her lift her chin to meet him.
Heat. He wanted more. If only to test his own strength.
He moved his lips gently against hers, but resisted holding her to him. She held onto him though, grasping his forearms with both hands, her fingers wrapped around his elbows. Pressing her body against his, pressing her tits against his ribs.
Hell, sounded like an invitation to him.  Deepening their connection, he thrust his tongue into her mouth, reached around, and grabbed her ass with both palms. When he squeezed, she sucked in a breath.
“Told you,” he rumbled.
“Told me?”
“Not a complaint, Scampi.” He squeezed again. “Perfect.”
A choked laugh left her throat. “Big.”
Still moving his hands over her backside, he said, “First thing I noticed about you at the Wharf.” He’d been plating up a chicken scaloppini when the manager walked in to show around a few new servers. Two he couldn’t remember, and Sofie. Bent over the plate, he’d peeked between the metal shelves framing that perfect ass . He’d stood to get a better look, and she’d pegged him with those moss-greens.
“Second thing I noticed was your eyes.”
Her lips parted slightly. “And the third thing?”
He kissed her. She tasted incredible. “The first time you talked to me.”
She rolled her eyes. “And what did I say?”
She didn’t think he remembered. She was wrong. “‘Can I get a side of cock?’”
Laughing, she shook her head.
He smiled back at her, unable to help himself. “Then you cleared your throat and said, ‘cocktail sauce’.”
Shaking her head, she said, “Worst abbreviation ever.”
“Kitchen guys are immature.”
She blinked up at him, studying him, like she was trying to piece him together. He didn't want her to. Once she pieced him together and had the whole picture, she wouldn’t like what she saw.
He kissed her again, keeping his hands on her body.
“Are you testing my boundaries?” she asked, her tone teasing. He recognized that comment from the night he rescued her from Torsett.
“Mine,” he corrected.
Sofie bit her lip. “I don’t date much.”
“Me either.” At all, actually.
She shook her head, more in thought than in argument. “I don’t think I have any boundaries with you.”

He was beginning to think he had none with her, either.

excerpt

“Oh Jaxon.” I moan and dig my nails into his back.

“Fuck, Angel,” he hisses. “I can feel it. You’re already so wet for me."

This spurs him on and he pushes me to my back and settles himself between my thighs. He’s sitting back on his legs. With my legs on either side of him resting on his, I’m somewhat open and exposed to him, even though I’m still wearing my clothes.

Jaxon watches me with steel blue eyes as he runs his hands slowly up my calves and thighs. When he reaches my stomach, his fingers dip underneath my tank top. He moves them to my sides. With slow movements, his hands continue their upward motion, bringing my shirt along with him.

I halt his movements by placing my hands on his.

“Angel, we don’t…” He starts but I stop him before he can finish.

I shake my head and say, “No, it’s not that. I don’t want you to stop. I just…” I stop because I don’t know what to say. How do you tell a man that your body is riddled with ugly marks?

Taking a deep breath I haltingly try to explain. “Steven…h-he liked to…mark me. I’ve got…scars. A lot of them. They aren’t pretty. I want to warn you before you see them for yourself.”

As I talk I see pure rage enter Jaxon’s face. After closing his eyes and breathing deeply a few times he opens them again and the rage is gone, replaced with a soft understanding look.

“Baby, no matter how many scars you have you could never look anything but beautiful to me.”

His words touch a place inside me that allows some of my insecurities to let go. His words are pure and I believe them.

I move my hands from his and place them on his thighs. He doesn’t take his eyes off mine as he starts moving his hands again to pull my shirt up. It’s slow and torturous. I want him to hurry, but then I’m dreading when he sees them. When his fingers skim over the side of my breast, my breathing starts to pick up. The warmth his hands leave behind makes me throb for more. My shirt is now over my breast, but his eyes still remain on mine.

“Arms up, baby and lift for me.” He says quietly.

Lifting my upper body off the bed, I sit up and bring my arms above my head. Jaxon finishes removing my shirt. His chest is right in front of my face. I bring my hands back down to his sides and lean forward to kiss his chest, but Jaxon pulls back and grabs both sides of my face to bring it up to his.

“Not yet. Lay back, I want to look at you.”
