Rock With You by Rachel Lacey Release Blitz!

RWYRBBanner
Lacey_RockwithYou_ebook
Synopsis
SWEET AS SUGAR. SEXY AS SIN . . .
Carly Taylor is pretty sure she's dreaming. It's not possible that Sam Weiss - rock star god and sexy hotness personified - is actually in her bakery. This sort of thing never happens in the too-small town of Haven. Or to her. And being stranded in a secluded mountain cabin with the deliciously decadent Sam during an ice storm? This is definitely not Carly's real life . . .
Now there's just the two of them, a roaring fire, lots of food and drink, and a sizzling attraction - one that just might make Carly do the unexpected. For one night, she'll live the fantasy. For one night, nothing else matters. . . not her struggling business, not her lonely life, not Sam's bad-boy reputation. But sometimes one night can turn one crazy, beautiful dream into something real.

Carly Taylor crouched behind the display case, peeking out between the blueberry muffins and the orange-cranberry scones. A man stood just inside the door, baseball cap pulled low, talking on his phone. He’d never come into A Piece of Cake Bakery before. And it was probably just her imagination playing tricks on her, but she could swear it was Sam Weiss. As in, one of the hottest rock stars in America.
Carly peeked at him again from behind the scones, then leaned over to pick up the napkin she’d pretended to drop to give herself an excuse to snoop. Sam Weiss probably lived in Hollywood. There was no way he’d be standing here—sans entourage—in the doorway of her little bakery in Haven, North Carolina, a town in the Smoky Mountains so small that it barely registered as a blip on the map.
Nope.
She was daydreaming, as usual. She’d listened to Sam’s latest album, Renegade, this morning while she baked, and now she was imagining him here in her shop.
“What are you doing down there, Carly?”
Carly looked up to see her grandma, Marlene, peering at her over the glass countertop. “I, ah, dropped something.”
“Lost in your thoughts again?” her grandmother asked with a wide smile.
“Something like that.” Carly climbed to her feet, clutching the dropped napkin.
Her grandmother’s friend Dixie stood beside her, her blue eyes twinkling mischievously. “Daydreaming about that handsome young man over by the door, I bet.”
Carly resisted the urge to glance in his direction but felt herself grinning anyway. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Well, we’re on our way out,” her grandmother said. “Aqua aerobics to work off those muffins.”
“Worth every calorie,” Dixie added.
The two women waved as they headed for the door, walking past the mystery hottie as they left. Carly’s grandma had created this bakery and ran it happily for over twenty years. She’d retired six months ago, handing over the reins to Carly.
But owning A Piece of Cake had been anything but a piece of cake for Carly so far. Profits were down, way down. She needed to get her head out of the clouds—and her mind off certain rock star look-a-likes—before she ran her grandmother’s pride and joy straight into the ground.
With a heavy sigh, she tossed the napkin she still held into the trash.
“What do you recommend?”
She looked up and into the blue eyes of Sam Weiss—or his non-celebrity twin. Lookalike or not, he was ridiculously hot, and she was a dork because her cheeks were burning. He wore a leather jacket over a black T-shirt and dark-washed jeans. But his eyes…wow. He still wore the baseball cap pulled low, with a sinful amount of stubble on his cheeks that all screamed Rock God.
“If you have a sweet tooth, you should, um, try a cinnamon bun. They’re my specialty.”
He leaned in, resting his elbows on the counter. “I do have a sweet tooth, especially for a pretty woman who bakes. This your place?”
That voice. Sweet Jesus. It was smooth as caramel with just a hint of a southern twang, and she’d know it anywhere. Sam Weiss is in my shop! And did he just hit on me?
“Yes.” She cleared her throat because why did she suddenly sound like Minnie Mouse? “Yes, this is my shop.”
A slow smile curved his lips. “A pretty woman who bakes and owns her own business. I like you already.”
“Thanks.” She really shouldn’t keep staring, but whoa, her brain was short-circuiting because…Sam Weiss. In her shop. Looking like sex on a stick, and he smelled pretty awesome too, like some kind of expensive cologne. Yum.
“I’ll try one of your cinnamon buns…” He paused, glancing down for the nametag she never wore since everyone in town already knew her name.
“Carly,” she said, still sounding a bit like she’d inhaled helium.
“Carly.” He met her gaze again, and the sound of her name on his lips made her knees wobble. “And a coffee, black.”
“You got it,” she said with a smile that felt weird on her face, and God, why was she being such an idiot? “For here?”
He nodded, watching her intently as if he’d figured out by all her bumbling dorkiness that she’d recognized him because, really, how could he not? At least he looked amused instead of annoyed.
She dished up a cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee without dropping anything or making a further fool of herself, and he paid in cash—denying her the thrill of seeing what name might be on his credit card. He probably went by some cool alter ego when he traveled anyway.
“Thanks, Carly,” he said in that butter-soft voice that made her feel all hot and fluttery inside. Then he leaned in, winked, and pressed a finger to his lips, making a silent, “sh.”
And oh my God, he knew she knew. Which meant it was definitely him. And she grinned like an idiot while he walked to a table in the back and sat, long legs stretched in front of him. A muffled beep from the direction of the kitchen told her she’d forgotten to take the last batch of butterscotch pecan sandies out of the oven.
So much for keeping her mind on business this morning. But at this exact moment—her eyes still on Sam Weiss—she didn’t care. Not even a little bit.

    Synopsis:
Welcome to the Winters Family Series, a sweet and sexy contemporary romance, where family comes first, romance is all around, and plates will be filled with many delicious meals.

Joshua Winters is a math teacher by day, bartender by night.  He's the middle Winters brother, and tends to be a bit of a wild child.  Ten years ago he met the girl of his dreams in algebra class, his junior year of high school.  He tries all of his sexy charm on this unapproachable girl, but then she mysteriously leaves Wilmington and he feels lost.  Now seeing her standing in the bar where he works, he realizes this may be his second chance.

Kenzie Waters grew up a military brat and traveled everywhere while she was growing up.  Since she relocates about every six months to a year she vowed to not make friends and just keep to herself.  When she met Joshua Winters in high school, he managed to crack her tough exterior.  Still guarded, she kept her distance from the cutest boy in high school.  When her father is called for another tour of duty in Afghanistan, her mom moves them back to Arizona to be with family.  Just two months after living back in Arizona, her father comes home injured.  The next ten years, she endures so much, and yet Joshua always stayed in the forefront of her mind.

Now, Kenzie has made her way back to Wilmington, NC, and hopefully into the arms of the one man who had her heart all along.  Sometimes we fall in love with someone even before we know it.

    REVIEW:

Wow, the beginning of the book really drew me in and explained their situations so the readers can easily follow both. It was obvious that both were not ready for a relationship with each other at that time in their life.

I did find that the writing style was slightly difficult to enjoy although not difficult to follow. I'm not sure what about it threw me off but it wasn't my favorite style of writing.

There were several different types of moments, some cute, some hard, others easy. This made the book very life like.

If you're not a big fan of insta-love then I wouldn't suggest You're Mine for your reading but if you don't mind it or really enjoy it then it certainly is a good book.

    Excerpt
As she walked out of her office, a flash of movement caught her attention.  She walked up front and saw Joshua sitting on a chair.  He had his head bent, and was looking at his phone.  She stopped and just looked at him, damn he was gorgeous.  Somehow she had to tell him about her degrees, or lack thereof, but how?  She walked towards him, and at the same moment he lifted his head and looked into her eyes.  They both never took their eyes off each other, Kenzie stopped just inches from him.
With just a hint of a smile, “I thought you were heading to The Clam Bake with Izzy and Drew?”
He stood and walked towards her.  Filling the empty space between them, “I decided to wait and walk over with you.  Is that okay?”
“Of course.” She had her hands knotted together, and her thumbs were moving back and forth.  Her head was bent, and she was looking at her hands.
Joshua was only about 4 inches taller than her, so he bent just slightly to look into her chocolate colored eyes.  “You want to talk about what has you distracted?”
She looked up and wanted to just melt into him, smiling, “Not right now, let’s go get a drink.”
He wasn’t going to push, he didn’t know her enough to push.  “Whenever you’re ready, you know I’m here.”
    She looked confused, “Why?”
He was a little thrown off by the question, “Why what?”
“Why would you want to be here for me, after all I did to you?  I was horrible to you in high school, and then never bothered to apologize - until ten years later.”  She stopped talking, and turned away from him, then quietly whispered, “Shit, I still haven’t apologized.”
Joshua walked up behind her, wrapped his arms around her waist.  He really could get used to this, the feel of her next to him.  “I’m working on letting go Kenzie, and you should, too.  Only forward, right?”
She leaned her head back onto his chest and let out a deep sigh, “I don’t think I can let go just yet, there are a few things that I need to resolve first.”  She turned into his embrace, loving the way it felt in his arms.  She really hoped he would still want to be near her once he knew about her, and her past.
    ******
Kenzie was laughing as she walked into The Clam Bake.  Joshua was behind her, lightly poking her sides and trying to make her laugh.  She suddenly turned and grabbed his hands in hers, “Oh my God, paybacks are a bitch!”
Joshua couldn’t stop smiling, with their hands still joined, he tugged her closer to him.  He whispered for only her ears, “Ya, what’re going to do, spank me?”
Kenzie immediately flushed at his words, “Maybe?”
Joshua pulled her even closer, “I think we have a problem?”
Looking confused, “What kind of problem?”
But before he could answer her question, Izzy hopped over and stuck her head in between theirs.  “Hi there chick-a-dees, you plan on joining us for dinner, or giving the restaurant a show of a lifetime?”
Kenzie pressed her head to Joshua’s chest, her mouth was facing his chest.  With a muffled voice, “What are you doing to me, Joshua Winters?”
Isabel laughed, like full belly laughed, “Sweetie, it’s called the Winters charm…and they’re all freaking hot, of course.”
Joshua wrapped his arms around Kenzie, “My charm and looks have you flustered?  Well now you know what you do to me, every single time you walk into a room.” He whispered in her ear, “You also make it hard for me to walk properly.” He bent and kissed her temple, “Want bourbon on the rocks to calm your nerves?”  Then he poked her side again to get her attention.
She quickly lifted her head to protest, but instead was suddenly lost in his eyes.  Just inches from his mouth, and all she wanted to do was kiss those gorgeous full lips.  Then he smiled, full teeth showing and all, and that was it for her.  She leaned up and kissed him, not a thank you or how are you kiss - it was a kiss that started to heat the whole room up instantly.
When she pulled back, they both had glazed looks, and half grins plastered on their faces.  He pulled back, put his arm around her waist and walked them towards Isabel and Drew.  Isabel was smiling, “I just ordered you both bourbon on the rocks, you need it.”
Kenzie finally found her voice, “Thank you, Izzy.  Did you make it a double?” They all started laughing.

Rarity from the Hollow by Robert Eggleton

Lacy Dawn is a true daughter of Appalachia, and then some. She lives in a hollow with her worn-out mom, her Iraq War disabled dad, and her mutt Brownie, a dog who's very skilled at laying fiber             optic cable. Lacy Dawn's android boyfriend, DotCom, has come to the hollow with a mission. His equipment includes infomercial videos of Earth's earliest proto-humans from millennia ago. He was          sent by the Manager of the Mall on planet Shptiludrp (Shop 'till You Drop): he must recruit Lacy Dawn to save the Universe in exchange for the designation of Earth as a planet which is eligible for             continued existence within a universal economic structure that exploits underdeveloped planets for their mineral content. Lacy Dawn’s magic enables her to save the universe, Earth, and, most   importantly, her own family.

     Parental Guidance Statement:

Piers Anthony, best selling fantasy author during the '80s and '90s, found that Rarity from the Hollow was “…not for the prudish.” Kevin Patrick Mahoney, editor of the once noteworthy site, Authortrek, found that it was, “…not for the faint hearted or easily offended….” By child developmental stage, the novel is similar to the infamous early adolescent insult in E.T.: “penis breath.” It is tame in comparison to the content of the popular television series, South Park, which is being devoured by millions of teens. The story does include marijuana smoking, but that subject has been        frequently broadcast in the news when states enact legislation or debates emerge.

Except for a scene involving domestic violence in the third chapter, there is no violence or horror -- no blood, guts, or gore, but there is one comical and annoying ghost. There are no graphic sex       scenes in the novel. The renewed romance between the protagonist’s parents does include off-scene sexual reference, but nothing that is beyond real-life typical teen exposure. The android coming   of age during his pursuit of humanity is reality based. Any boy above thirteen years old would attest. However, Lacy Dawn never lets the android get farther than to kiss her on the cheek, once. The        android expresses no interest in sex – he falls in love, all consuming love by the middle of the story. The “F word” is used once, but there is very little profanity. There are two mild sex scenes past   the middle of the story that could disturb some folks with conservative values on the subject, but one of the scenes is comedic and the other involves the inhabitation of a maple tree by the ghost,    so the story is not erotic.

    EXCERPT:
From chapter 13, Mom I’d Like to Introduce You to My Fiancé:
…Jenny (the mother) walked up the hill to Roundabend. She called Lacy Dawn's name every few yards. Her muddy tennis shoes slipped and slid.
I hear her voice. Why won't she answer me?
“Sounds like she’s talking to someone,” Jenny said to the Woods.
Nobody responded. The trees weren't supposed to since Jenny was no longer a child. Her former best friends had made no long-term commitment beyond childhood victimization. They had not agreed to help her deal with domestic violence in adulthood. She hugged the closest tree.
I will always love you guys.
Jenny quickened her pace, stopped, and listened for human voices. A few yards later, she stopped again.
Now it sounds like she’s behind me instead of in front.
Jenny looked to the left of the path.
There ain't no cave Roundabend, but there it is.
She walked toward the entrance. The voices grew louder and she looked inside. Lacy Dawn sat on a bright orange recliner. Tears streamed down her face.  Jenny ran to her daughter through a cave that didn't exit and into a blue light that did.
                “All right, you mother f**ker!”
“Mom!” Lacy Dawn yelled. “You didn’t say, ‘It’s me’ like you're supposed to (a traditional announcement mentioned earlier in the story)."
DotCom (the android) sat naked in a lotus position on the floor in front of the recliner.  Jenny covered Lacy Dawn with her body and glared at him.
"Grrrrr," emanated from Jenny.  It was a sound similar to the one that Brownie (Lacy Dawn's dog) made the entire time the food stamp woman was at their house.  It was a sound that filled the atmosphere with hate.  No one moved.  The spaceship’s door slid shut.
“Mommmmmy, I can’t breathe. Get up.”
“You make one move you sonofabitch and I’ll tear your heart out,” Jenny repositioned to take her weight off Lacy Dawn.
                Stay between them.
“Mommy, he’s my friend. More than my friend, we’re going to get married when I'm old enough -- like when I turn fourteen. He’s my boyfriend -- what you call it -- my fiancé.”
“You been messin’ with my little girl you pervert!” Jenny readied to pounce.
“MOM!  Take a chill pill! He ain’t been messing with me. He’s a good person, or whatever. Anyway, he’s not a pervert. You need to just calm down and get off me.”
Jenny stood up. DotCom stood up. Jenny’s jaw dropped.
He ain't got no private parts, not even a little bump.
“DotCom, I’d like to introduce you to my mommy, Mrs. Jenny Hickman. Mommy, I’d like to introduce you to my fiancé, DotCom.”
Jenny sat down on the recliner. Her face was less than a foot from DotCom’s crotch and she stared straight at it. It was smooth, hairless, and odor free.
“Mrs. Hickman, I apologize for any inconvenience that this misunderstanding has caused. It is very nice to meet you after having heard so much. You arrived earlier than expected. I did not have time to properly prepare and receive. Again, I apologize.”
I will need much more training if I'm ever assigned to a more formal setting than a cave, such as to the United Nations.
“Come on, Mommy. Give him a hug or something.”
                Jenny's left eye twitched.
DotCom put on clothing that Lacy Dawn had bought him at Goodwill. It hung a little loose until he modified his body. Lacy Dawn hugged her mother…
…(scene of Dwayne, the father, overheard by those in the spaceship while talking to himself)… “Besides, the transmitter was part of Daddy’s treatment. There're a lot of other things that he did to help fix Daddy. DotCom is like a doctor. You can see that Daddy has gotten better every day. And no, there ain’t no transmitter in you. DotCom figured you out like a good doctor and the only things wrong are a lack of opportunity and rotten teeth that poison your body. You don’t need no transmitter. He just gave you a few shots of ego boost. I don’t know what medicine that is, but I trust him. You ain't complained since the shots started -- not even with an upset stomach.”
                "He's a doctor?" Jenny asked.
“What's your problem anyway?” Lacy Dawn asked. “I know.  You’re prejudiced. You told me that people have much more in common than they do that's different -- even if someone is a different color or religion, or from a different state than us. You told me to try to become friends because sometimes that person may need a good friend. Now, here you are acting like a butt hole about my boyfriend. You’re prejudiced because he’s different than us.”
“Honey, he’s not even a person – that’s about as different as a boyfriend can get,” Jenny said.
                “So?”
Mommy's right. Maybe I need a different argument.
A fast clicking sound, a blur of motion, and a familiar smell assaulted them.
                "What's that?" Jenny asked.
She moved to protect her daughter from whatever threat loomed. Brownie, who had been granted 27 / 7 access to the ship, bounded over the orange recliner, knocked DotCom to the floor, licked DotCom’s face, and rubbed his head on Jenny’s leg. He then jumped onto the recliner and lay down. His tail wagged throughout. Jenny sat down on the recliner beside Brownie and looked at Lacy Dawn.
“But, you were crying when I first came in. That thing was hurting you.” Jenny shook her finger at DotCom to emphasize a different argument against him.
“Mommy, I'm so happy that I couldn’t help but cry. My man just came home from an out-of-state job. I didn't talk to him for a whole year. Before he left, he told me that he wasn’t even sure if he'd be able to come home. I still don’t know what happened while he was gone. We ain't had no chance to talk. All I know is that he's home and I'm sooooo happy.”
“Your man came home from an out-of-state job?” Jenny patted Brownie on his head, some more and some more….
It's unusual for a man to promise to come back home and ever be seen again. Brownie likes him and that's a good sign. Maybe she's right about him helping Dwayne. Something sure did and it wasn’t me. It is a nice living room. They've been together for a while and I ain't seen a mark on herThat's unusual too. He ain't got no private parts and that's another good thingHell, if I get in the middle, she’d just run off with him anyway. I'd better play it smart. I don't want to lose my baby.
“What about his stupid name?” Jenny asked.
“I’ve got a stupid name, too. All the kids at school call me hick because my last name is Hickman.”
“My name was given to me by my manager a very long time ago. It represents a respected tradition -- the persistent marketing of that which is not necessarily the most needed. I spam…,” DotCom said.
                They both glared at him.
"Dwayne is sure to be home. I don’t want him to worry. Let’s go,” Jenny said.
                “Okay, Mommy.”
“I love you, DotCom,” Lacy Dawn stepped out the ship’s door, which had slid open. Brownie and Jenny were right behind her.
“I love you too,” DotCom said.
Lacy Dawn and Jenny held hands and walked down the path toward home. The trees didn’t smile -- at least not so Jenny would notice. On the other hand, no living thing obstructed, intruded, or interfered with the rite.
Jenny sang to the Woods, “My little girl’s going to marry a doctor when she grows up, marry a doctor when she grows up, when she grows up.  My little girl’s going to marry a doctor when she grows up, marry a doctor when she grows up, when she grows up….”

Robert Eggleton was born in 1951, the eldest son of an impoverished family in West Virginia. The family received government surplus food called commodities. His alcoholic and occasionally      abusive father had PTSD from WWII. Beginning in childhood, Robert worked odd jobs to feed his family until, at age twelve, he got a minimum wage job in a drug store. The store manager would let         him take home paperbacks if returned in a same-as-new condition. That's how Robert was introduced to Kurt Vonnegut and the world of speculative fiction.

In the 8th grade, Robert won the school’s short story contest. It was a story about a redneck semi truck driver so obsessed with theological debate that he lost concentration on the road and caused       a terrible accident -- a philosophical theme similar to Cat's Cradle from a teen perspective. As it often does, life got in the way of Robert's dream to become a famous and rich writer. He has made      payments into America’s Social Security for fifty-two years. He continued to work at various minimum wage jobs during high school and college. Work, antiwar activities and school kept him too       busy to write stories, so he wrote poems on scraps of paper. One was published in the 1972 West Virginia Student Poetry Anthology. Another was published in a zine. He graduated in 1973 with a      degree in social work and received an MSW from WVU in 1977. After college, he focused on children’s advocacy. The Vietnam War and the draft had ended. His new political cause became            children’s rights and welfare. He was involved in this emotionally charged work for the next forty years during which time he wrote social service manuals, research, investigative, and statistical           reports on child abuse and delinquency, but read Bradbury, Adams, and Tom Robbins, even newer voices in speculative fiction than Vonnegut, Dick, and Le Guin.

In 2003, Robert became a children’s psychotherapist at the local community mental health center in his home town. It was an intensive day program for kids with very severe emotional disturbances. One day at work in 2006, during a group therapy session, he met the real-life role model for his fictional protagonist. Lacy Dawn had been severely abused, had dissociative disorder that caused           delusions and hallucinations, but was so resilient that it was inspiring to everybody who met her, staff and her peers alike. Robert started writing fiction. Three short Lacy Dawn Adventures have been             published in magazines. His debut novel, Rarity from the Hollow, was released in 2012 by Dog Horn Publishing, a small traditional press located in Leeds. In May 2015, Robert retired from his job as         a children’s psychotherapist so that he could concentrate on promoting and writing his fiction that introduces Lacy Dawn Adventures to the rest of the worldThree weeks later, a retired editor of       Reader's Digest posted a book review that it was the most enjoyable science fiction that he has read in several years. http://warriorpatient.com/blog/2015/05/18/58/Author proceeds have been          donated to a child abuse prevention program in West Virginia.http://www.childhswv.org/
