Lil' Less Lost Blitz!

Book Synopsis
WARNING*** This novella is intended for those 18+ of age and contains strong language, sexual content, adult situations and a direct continuation of it's prequel 'A Lil' Less Lost'. Do fairytale's always have a happily ever after? Jay and Lil's had just found the love they once shared and foolishly lost. But, a horrific turn events threatens to end it forever. Jay must race against time to save his ol' lady Lil's and their baby before tragedy strikes. In this sequel we learn more about Jay, the deep love he has for his soulmate, and just how far he is willing to go to protect her. This novella is approx. 50,500 words and does not contain a cliffhanger ending like it's prequel. However, an epic love story like Lil's and Jay cannot possibly be wrapped up in two tidy little novella's... now can it?

Author Bio
Tara is a thirtysomething newbie author from Long Island, New York. She's a voracious reader, a passionate writer and and obsessive junk T.V. aficionado. When she's not doing one of those three things she is attempting to garden, hanging with her hubby or partaking in some retail therapy. She enjoys connecting with her readers and is having a blast entering into this new world of publishing.

Review:

This is the first novella in the series and I thought I would review it as well as the second. So here goes!

So this has very little to do with A Lil' Less Broken but it was helpful while reading it. There's a vocabulary list of some of the slang used in the novella and that was really helpful. If you've watched Sons of Anarchy, you should already know a few of the terms but a couple were unfamiliar and it was great to have that there and know what they were talking about.

A Lil' Less Broken starts things up right from the beginning. Right from the first page, there seemed to be lots of action. Whether that was emotional or physical was the question. There was lots going on to keep yourself immersed in the book and yet not enough that you felt like it was an overload. There was a good balance that worked.

There were questions asked, but they were usually quickly answered. It didn't take long to find out information about the different characters as well. You were given what you needed to know at the proper time.

Lil was a strong female character who didn't take anybody's...you know what I mean. She stood up for herself and didn't let anyone walk all over her including Jay. That was great, it meant lots of sparks between the two and yet you could still tell they loved each other. That was amazing.

Then there was Jay. Alpha male if there ever was one. He gave orders(not that Lil really followed them) and yet he wasn't mean or terrible when she didn't follow them. Sure for some of the book he was a bit of a prick, for lack of better terms but he also did what he could to show Lil that he really did love her and she ran for nothing.

There was an occasional awkwardly phrased sentence but not very many and besides what author is perfect?

A Lil' Less Broken is a good start to the Kingsmen series, and I can't wait to see even more(especially with the cliffhanger we were left with!

Review:

Now to the main event! A Lil' Less Lost released today and I advise you to go and buy it if you really like Alpha Males and Motorcycle club books.

In this novella we get the perspective of Jay, which is great, because we get to know him better and learn just how far he's willing to go for Lil.

Oh, and something else I forgot to mention in the previous review is that in the course of these novellas there is a switching between past and present. So at the same time you're dealing with all of these things going on in the book in the present, you're also getting the past, and how they came to be together. I thought that that was a nice touch and kept the reader from going crazy wondering what was happening and with the action.

This book definitely makes you think about things and adds some mystery to the series in general. Towards the end, we get the perspective of two different characters and I have to admit color me intrigued. It's definitely leaving breadcrumbs for the next book in the series and I personally cannot wait.

I literally sat down and read A Lil' Less Lost in one sitting, that's how much I enjoyed this book. You can now purchase A Lil' Less Lost and I strongly suggest you do if you're into Alpha Males and MC's.

Hot Rebel by Lynn Raye Harris

(Image found on Goodreads)
"She was safe, even if she wasn't entirely certain she would remain that way." -Lynn Raye Harris, Hot Rebel

Victoria's been labelled a traitor. And it doesn't help that she screwed up HOT's mission. Nick is not happy that she messed up his shot and chance to take out a terrorist. But he's also not sure that he wants to find her again. After all, it's been three years since they've seen each other in their sniper course. However, when bullets start flying Nick can't seem to help himself. Will Nick be able to protect her? Or will everything be for nothing? Find the official description on Goodreads.

I'm going to get this out of the way and just mention that I'm really happy that Lynn Raye Harris includes bits and pieces about characters who've already had their books(so like saying about kids, etc) and also includes some things that point to a book in the future. It just always makes me happy to pick up on those little connections in books. This means they could be read as stand alones but it also doesn't feel right almost to ignore the chance to understand these connections more deeply.

I liked both Victoria and Nick's voices throughout the book and it also helped to create a space where we don't think Nick is a jerk or idiot and vice versa with Victoria. Although occasionally even with their thought processes you do think they're idiots. But that's some of the fun of Hot Rebel and just in general the Hostile Operations Series.

The basics of their shared past comes out quickly but I was more curious about the details(such as whether they had hooked up before) so watching that emerge throughout the book was great, and kept me interested when things might have been a bit slower. Not that that happened much in this book.

I also like how many of the characters, are portrayed as black or white, there were also characters that were grey and the reader had to try and discern what side they would come down on at any given time. It kept me engaged and again, it kept me reading, because I wanted to find out if my predictions were right or if someone was truly on which side.

There were lots of places in which you seriously doubted that they would make it through or make it through together. It got my heart pounding and my excitement going.

Overall Hot Rebel was an amazing read and a brilliant addition to the Hostile Operations Series. It was actually just released today so make sure that you go buy it!

Hot Shot by Lynn Raye Harris

(Image found on Goodreads)
"He hadn't wanted to see her, though every once in a while he caught himself thinking of that last day together on the island." -Lynn Raye Harris, Hot Shot

Jack's an amazing sniper for the Hostile Operation Team. He saved Gina one day and after spending three days with her waiting for rescue hasn't been able to forget her. But the circumstances weren't right. Several years later, Gina calls extremely upset. Her son has been kidnapped and Jack's the only one she trusts to get him back. But there's a secret she's been keeping and it will come out. Will Jack stick around? Or will things prove too tough? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Throughout the book, Jack and Gina both become living, breathing people to the readers. We're give some of Jack's past and that helps the reader empathize with him. Not to mention understand why he does what he does even though sometimes I felt like smacking him for being a complete and utter idiot! But it was easy to understand where he was coming from. He felt guilt and was still grieving. Although I admit that in the end I was really happy with his actions. Not his past ones, but the ones he was making to make things right.

Then there's Gina. I felt bad for her because she's under constant scrutiny as a celebrity and that she's forced to deal with a situation she's not really prepared for. But she handled things really well. I felt admiration for how strong she could be at least when it counted. However she did make at least one decision that I felt she could have handled better. But at the same time I'm reminded that it's easy to look back or at characters and see everything that they're doing wrong and how they could have done better. So really she just did the best she could with what she had.

There were lots of drama, and if it wasn't a combination of action and emotional drama than it was one or the other. It kept things interesting. And there were touching scenes between several characters. Including the team. Their interactions served as some lighthearted banter that relieved a bit of tension. But it's clear that they're close. And I loved that. It was sweet. But at the same time amusing. And the nicknames were great! Although I wish I knew a bit more about the characters so that I could understand the reason behind the nicknames better.

Hot Shot seems to be able to stand as a stand-alone but there was at least one thing mentioned that while it was explained briefly I would have liked some more background. But that's easily remedied by reading the rest of the series.

I loved reading Hot Shot and it sounds like this would be a good series! Hot Shot comes out on June 30th. You should definitely look into it!
