Only Her by Sandra Owen Blog Tour!

ONLY HER
A K2 TEAM, BOOK 5
SANDRA OWENS
ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
07.19.16
Only Her Cover
BLURB
Former SEAL sniper Cody Roberts has returned from Afghanistan with too many demons and a simple wish: to be left alone. Working for K2 Special Services, caring for the war dogs he rescued, playing his guitar—that’s all he wants to do. But Cody is as protective as his nickname, “Dog,” suggests. A man like that can’t sit back when he realizes the beautiful veterinarian next door is being targeted by an unknown enemy.
Riley Austin is desperate to find out who’s poisoning her animal patients, and she’s stunned by her mysterious neighbor’s suggestion that it’s personal. But Cody makes her feel something else, too: a powerful attraction. He insists he’s no good for her, but those haunted eyes and that chiseled body tell Riley that surrendering to their mutual lust is worth the risk. And despite his conditions, she’ll fight to love him just as fiercely as he’ll fight to save her.

Review:

I am going to say that I did enjoy this book. The characters and story were enough to keep me reading once I hooked especially the last few chapters. Both of the main characters were very real and lifelike and it was intriguing to see both work through the things that were causing them problems, both physically and emotionally

However it did take me a little bit to get hooked. I would say that I did get hooked before the 50% mark but it was a slow journey. I'm not sure if it was my mood at the moment or if it was just a slow build so keep that in mind when taking into consideration my review.

Overall it was a good read and one I did not regret spending time with. I will definitely look into reading the rest of the K2 series although this book can be read as a standalone.

EXCERPT
The next morning, Riley sat at her breakfast table, her gaze glued on the house across the street, curious to see her new neighbor. The top half of a body appeared in the bungalow’s kitchen window, and she froze with her coffee cup halfway to her mouth. He was a he! With a grin, she gave a fist pump. Although she couldn’t see his features, the top half of him was built like a freakin’ warrior.

“No drooling, Riley,” she muttered. With a cup in his hand, he stepped onto his porch, wearing a pair of sweat bottoms and nothing else. She drooled.

Then two dogs followed him out, and she sighed. “My cats are going to hate your dogs, so that means we can’t have a hot affair, mystery man.”

The dogs, one of them the ugliest thing she’d ever seen, the other a mixed breed that looked to have some German shepherd genes, stayed at either side of him. Because she was a veterinarian and trained to notice animal behavior, she caught the miniscule hand signal he gave them. Ugly dog and mixed-breed dog bounded down the steps and raced around the yard.

Stupid man. Didn’t he realize they might run into the road and get hit by a car? She had lost more than her fair share of pets recently and didn’t want to see another one die. Damn if she was going to let that happen again.

“Are you crazy?” she yelled at him after going out onto her front lawn. The man gave her body a slow perusal that sent shivers right down to her toes.

“Probably,” he said.

What? Was he admitting he was crazy? She backed up a few steps. He took a leisurely sip of what she assumed was coffee, but who knew, maybe he was drinking booze already. She took another few steps back. Why couldn’t she learn to mind her own business?

“Excuse my curiosity, but was that just a general observation, or was there a reason for your question?”

The humor—was he laughing at her?—in his voice annoyed her. She marched forward. “Has it not occurred to you that your dogs might run into the road and get hit?”

“Yep,” he said.

She waited for more, then continued to wait. Why did the man have to be so freaking hot? Those broad shoulders and his six-pack abs made her want to press her fingers against his chest to see if he was as muscle hard as he looked. Dark brown hair, caramel-colored eyes, a killer body, and a day-old beard made for one potent man. It was the scruff that gave him a bad boy appearance, the kind of bad boy who’d always appealed to her, unfortunately. There wasn’t a soft thing about him, not even in his eyes. They were hard and cold.

“Bah,” she muttered when he remained silent. Waving a dismissive hand, she turned to go back into her house.

“Call them,” he said.

Don’t turn around, Riley. She turned. “What?”

“Call them. The ugly one is Pretty Girl and the black and tan one is Sally. Call them by name.”

Riley glanced up and down the street to make sure there were no oncoming cars. Okay, she’d show him what an idiot he was by playing his stupid game. “Pretty Girl, Sally, come here.” She clapped and crooned to them. They both ran to the edge of the sidewalk, sat their butts on the ground, and swept their tails across the grass. No matter how much she cajoled, they came no farther. Well, that was embarrassing, and the amusement in the man’s eyes grated.

“My bad,” she said as she slinked back to her house. At hearing his low chuckle, she lifted her hand and gave him her middle finger.

Cody cracked a rare smile as he watched the woman until she disappeared inside her house. “Did you just give me the finger, darlin’?”

Kickin' Up Dust by Em Petrova Blog Tour!

Kickin' Up Dust (Operation Cowboy Book 1) by Em Petrova

Date of Publication: July 19, 2016

Blurb

This Marine follows the rules. This cowgirl is all about breaking them.
Operation Cowboy, Book 1
After losing his best friend and CO, Matt, in combat, Brodie Bell didn't think his spirits could sink any lower. He was wrong. One look at his and Matt's storm-flattened hometown nearly levels him.
Los Vista needs a leader, and as Brodie takes the weight of the world on his shoulders, he comes up with a plan. Merge the two ranches left standing, pray for a good calving season…and keep his hands too busy to get busy with Matt's sexy little sister.
Danica was in pigtails when Brodie and Matt went off chasing glory. Now she's a woman with a broken heart, but if Matt knew of the depraved cravings Brodie ignites in her body, he'd haunt her from the grave.
As they work to mend miles of broken fences, Brodie fights to ignore Danica's tiny cutoff shorts and mile-long legs—and to ignore the "weapon" that's locked and loaded in his Levis. Because the last thing he wants is to dishonor his friend's memory by ravishing the sweetest little cowgirl he's ever laid eyes on.
Warning: Involves a sweet and sassy ranch girl who knows her way around a rope, and a Marine turned cowboy who'd like to tie her down and spank her until she begs for more.

Review:

This was a well-written, emotional story. I enjoyed the look into the characters and their heads to understand how they were emotionally and to gain an insight into them. It helped to make me as a reader more connected to the two main characters.

It did take me a bit to get through the first few chapters but that's just because they were so emotional that I honestly had to keep stopping and breathing in an attempt to not cry like a baby. But once I got past the overly emotional beginning I settled in and quickly finished the rest of the book that was how well written I found it.

It was a good read and an emotional one as well. So be warned, have a box of kleenex handy!

Excerpt:
She sat on the edge of the couch for a few more moments, just taking in the surroundings.  There was an acoustic guitar resting against the front window, in the living room.  She knew only the basics of guitars, but had always wanted to learn how to play.  Looking down, she let out a soft laugh.  She still couldn’t believe she was wearing her most risqué nightgown.  All that she had underneath was little bikini panties.  She shook her head and stood up.  She quietly walked to the bathroom.  When she walked back into the living room, she checked to see if Miles was still sleeping.  Then as she walked towards the guitar, she enjoyed the feel of the soft carpet between her toes.  This house was inviting.  What did he say, he was renting it?  It would be a keeper in her book.  As she sat down on the floor, she pulled the nightgown up around her.  She rested her body against the window sill, and lifted the guitar onto her lap.  Her knees were together and sitting to the side in front of her.  She slowly started to play a few chords.
Miles had a tough time falling asleep on the couch, but when he did, he was out.  Preslie never moved the whole night, so he sleep perfectly.  In the past, Angie was known to toss and turn, and keep him up all night.  Also, he was a light sleeper, which went with the type of job he had.  You always felt on, and ready to jump into action at any moment.  He never felt Preslie get up, but as he opened his eyes, he noticed she was gone.  He started to come out of the sleeping fog, and realized he heard a guitar.  He looked around, but didn’t see Preslie.  Then he looked behind him, and there she was.  It was like an angel sitting by the window.  There was soft lighting shining a beautiful beam around her gorgeous body.  She was holding one of his guitars, and sitting there pretending to play.  He had to smile.  This was just too beautiful.  The guitar she was holding was one of his prized possessions.  It had been signed by Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.  He had signed it personally.  God he could watch her like this all day.  He looked down and laughed to himself.  Hopefully his other body parts would cooperate soon, and just relax.  He couldn’t stand up, when everything else was standing up, too.  Shaking his head, he rubbed his eyes, and thought about cold water.
He stood and walked towards her, “Good morning, Princess.”
She smiled as she looked up at him, “Sorry if I woke you.  I couldn’t resist strumming a few chords.  I really have no idea how to play, but have always wanted to learn.”
Miles loved her honesty, “Well, just so happens I know this guy who plays the guitar.”
Laughing, “You do, huh?”  She rested her hands on the guitar, “Was it okay that I grabbed this one?”
He sat down on the floor beside her, “Of course.  Do you like Led Zeppelin?”
She looked shocked, “Who doesn’t?  They’re the best.  Why?”
He pointed down below her fingers, “Jimmy Page signed this for me.  He has played on a guitar like this.”
She squeaked, “Oh my God.” Then she handed the guitar to him carefully, “I’m so sorry.”
He let out a laugh, “Why?  You didn’t do anything wrong.  If you were banging it around, that may be an issue.” He handed the guitar back to her, and moved her hair away from her face.  He leaned in, with his head next to hers, he showed her a few notes.
She slowly moved her hands up to his, feeling each movement.  She rested her head against his, and sighed.
Quietly he asked, “Should we have breakfast?  Maybe wear clothes like normal people?” He continued to strum the chords, but moved his body closer to hers.
She nuzzled into the crease of his neck, and rested her head on his shoulder.  She lightly laughed, “Do normal people really wear clothes?  In the house I mean?”
He could feel her smile on his neck, and had to smile too.  “Hmmm…Maybe not.” He stopped playing and moved the guitar away.  He pulled her onto his lap, “Would you like to spend the day with me today?” He looked up into her eyes, “Or do you have some reality TV show to watch?”
She playfully punched him, “No.” With an innocent face, “I don’t watch reality TV.” You could see she wanted to laugh, but she was holding back.
He looked at her, and started laughing, “You’re so lying.” He shook his head, “Breakfast, then what?”
Smiling, she looked down, “Well, can we swing by my place and grab some nightgowns, or maybe clothes?” She leaned up and kissed him on his lips.  Then she quickly stood up, and reached for his hand.
He was a bit surprised when she leaned in to kiss him.  As much as they talked in the past weeks, and especially last night.  He had to get used to physical contact with another woman.  After 10 years with one woman, your mind can struggle with change.  Of course, Angie was making it easy to move on.  He still couldn’t believe he found Julian with her last night.  The guys were going to freak.  He looked up and grabbed her hand, and pulled himself up.  He swatted her behind and walked to the kitchen.

Like many other foundations, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides assistance to injured soldiers as well as their families. SOWF also focuses on one of the most important challenges those families face; 'getting to their hospitalized loved ones as quickly as possible'. With grants immediately provided to the family, they can travel to be bedside with their loved one, especially for those crucial first days. SOWF also provides a scholarship program, family services (including clinical social workers, scholarship counselors, and family services counselors). With on-going support and helpful counseling to all families of fallen members in every branch of the military, they are able to help in all the ways that count. The SOWF was highly recommended to me by a recent veteran who served in Iraq. Therefore, I am thrilled to be able to help them in any way possible. Every little bit counts.

excerpt
Grace moved closer, shifting her body so she could reach my face more easily. She ended up practically standing between my legs, brushing up against my injured one whenever she rinsed off the razor.
"Take a breath, Merrick. I haven't cut you. Not yet," she chuckled.
I breathed in her sweet scent, my head swimming with arousal. She had no idea what she was doing to me. All those months shaving with a tiny mirror stuck to the wall in my CHU had been frustrating as hell. I couldn't see shit in that thing. Now I very literally couldn't see shit and she was in front of me smelling like she did, being as gentle as she was, and all those memories didn't seem like such a horrible thing.
Because now I was experiencing something even more torturous.
She positioned the razor under my nose and expertly removed the coarse hair above my lip. What would she do if I just leaned in and devoured her mouth? Would I miss her lips completely or would she meet me halfway?
She gently turned my face and started on the other side. I didn't think having her shave my face would be this intimate. In fact, I was planning on it being annoying as hell since I thought she wouldn't really know what she was doing. Asking my mother had been an option, but I didn't want her leaving Mitch either.
"Almost there. You need a haircut, too." Her voice was rough and sexy, and I had to hold back a groan when it sent blood rushing straight to my groin. "I can style it for you so it stays out of your face, but I'm no good with cutting hair."
"That sounds good," I replied. God, if she didn't finish soon, I was going to do something stupid.
She raised my chin and carefully shaved my neck. When her fingers stroked my skin to check for any areas she missed, I swallowed thickly and lost the battle completely.
My injured and stiff hand found her wrist, slowly pulling the razor away from my skin. Her gasp sent my semi-erection shooting straight up to painfully hard. The skin of her wrist was like silk under my fingers, the tiny bones so fragile. I worried that if I was too insistent, I would hurt her with just a touch.
"Merrick?" she breathed, her sweet breath caressing my chin.
"Grace ..."
I felt her racing pulse under my fingers and pulled her forward until I could feel the heat of her face so close to mine. I raised my other hand to her waist and made a cautious path up, until I gripped the back of her neck. She didn't struggle or protest, and I hoped her accelerated breaths were telling me that she was feeling the same intense pull I was.
My dry throat finally found the strength to speak, even if it was just a whisper. "I would give anything to be able to see you right now." I pulled her face closer, until the tip of her nose touched mine. The sound of the razor falling to the floor, briefly registered in my mind.
Bio
I live in Morgan, Utah with my husband, beautiful daughter, and a couple of spoiled pups. If I'm not deeply involved in writing my next book, then I'm probably reading in the safety and quiet of my closet. I love yoga – which I now practice regularly – playing hide and seek with my daughter (only to have my hiding spots revealed by one of the pups), and I love Fruit by the Foot, Twizzlers and Peace Tea. These are great ways to bribe me into revealing secrets about what's to come.
I have an unhealthy obsession with Supernatural, The Walking Dead, and The Big Bang Theory. I also enjoy talking about them, so if you like them, too, come find me.
Writing has become an enormous part of my life and every book I write holds a special place in my heart. If you read one of my books, I hope you have the same experience.
