Army Strong and dripping with sin ...
Paul Jackson had his dreams mapped out. He’d graduate from high school, attend college, go pro for football, marry his high school sweetheart and live happily ever after. Until his high school sweetheart threw away everything he never knew he wanted. Throwing caution to the wind, he put his country’s dreams before his own.
The Army was a perfect distraction from her. It helped him become a man. To serve, to protect, to fight, to become strong. But when Paul returns home after three tours, he knows there’s nothing better than sexy woman, a shot of tequila and a pocket full of cash.
But he still thinks about her
Joselyn Marquez’s life changed the night of her seventeenth birthday. A forty-eight hour roller coaster trip sent her running for her life. She was homeless, and her family had disappeared. All odds were against her.
But sometimes the odds work out.
Years later, she’s an FBI agent serving as an undercover escort to investigate sex trafficking in Las Vegas. When the investigation connects her past, will she be able to do the right thing or will she still keep running from the night of her seventeenth birthday?
Tensions will rise.
Sparks will fly.
Passions will soar.
And the past will come knocking …

REVIEW

Tequila & Lace. Wow, it was certainly an intriguing read that deals with difficult situations. That was certainly not the happiest of books. Both Paul and Jocelyn have had a difficult life and it's not gotten any easier for either of them. Although it was great to see their interactions. They certainly weren't like most interactions and stood out in my mind.

And there were moments you were just screaming at the characters to do what they think they should. But of course most times they didn't listen and you watching tings play out that you think could have been prevented. But then there wouldn't really be much of a story.

The writing, including the ending was well done. Kimberly Knight has created a great read!

What the Heart Wants by Kelli McCracken

(Image found on Goodreads)

Dylan and Heaven have been dreaming about a stranger. A stranger of the opposite sex. When they meet, it's clear to Dylan at least that his dreams have just become reality. But Dylan's fear of telling Heaven might tear them apart. Will Dylan find the strength to win Heaven's heart forever? Find the official description on Goodreads.

The feelings and memories in this book were really well described. It was really easy to understand what was going on with each of the characters and to see what had happened in their memories of the past. And those memories were so sweet.

I'm always a sucker for soul mate romances, and What the Heart Wants did not disappoint. It had enough drama, external and internal to make things difficult but it also had those sweet moments that are almost too sweet?

We're given both characters perspectives, and that's the majority of the book. But we also get one or two small chapters in other characters perspectives. And that was an interesting experience. It let me understand some of the other characters motives rather than just think they were pains in the butts.

The writing was good, and solid. I definitely enjoyed What the Heart Wants and can't wait to read more about Heaven and Dylan!

Review:

Heart on Fire was sweet and hot. I loved the romance in the book, it made things just so sighworthy. I enjoy that feeling. It gives you hope and yeah, it's just a great feeling.

The coincidence that goes on in Heart on Fire was really kind of almost eerie. Although very interesting. I don't know how likely that would be to happen in real life but I was really glad that it happened in this book. It made things really interesting especially when Mila's ex comes into the picture.

Brandy L. Rivers also gave you some characters to despise while giving you the characters to love. I enjoyed that and it was marvelous.

The writing was extremely easy to read. The characters were realistic and three dimensional, even those who were not at the center of things. It was great to see the connections form between everyone and while there were moments you got angry it was usually at the circumstances that were happening rather than the characters.

Heart on Fire was a great romantic read that had realistic characters that everyone can get behind.

Strength of Ballerinas Blog Tour

(Image found on Goodreads)
“Looking at myself in the rearview mirror, I saw reflected in the rectangular piece of glass a girl who was going to live to fight and fight with all her heart to dance.” -Nancy Lorenz, The Strength of Ballerinas

Kendra has always dreamed of being a prima ballerina and even with her father moving the family to California, she is determined to dance with the Manhatten Dance Company, but when she starts experiencing muscle numbness and dizziness, she must decide if she will fight to dance or find another dream. Find the official description on Goodreads.

May I just say that The Strength of Ballerinas is a really inspirational read and it will make you feel proud and like you need to pursue those dreams you’ve always put off.

The one thing that I had difficulty with in this book was the ballet terms. I’ve never really held an interest in ballet at all, and so I found that I had to google a lot of the terms, because I couldn’t imagine the moves in my mind and it was bugging me slightly. But other than that it was an amazingly inspirational read.

Kendra was definitely a character that readers felt proud of, even if they felt that she was pulling the poor me routine a couple too many times. This made her much more realistic as does her battle to decide what to do when she is diagnosed with MS. Throughout the book we get to see her at her best and her worst. It’s really an amazing journey and while I have never really known much about MS, I did learn some more about it and the effects. Not to mention I got to see Kendra’s struggle with MS. It made for an interesting read.

The writing was well done, and didn’t detract from the book at all. It was easy to imagine many of the characters and feel some kind of emotion about them whether it be dislike or admiration.

The Strength of Ballerinas was amazing, inspirational and overall, just a book that everyone should read once.

When Dreams are Calling by Carol Vorvain

(Image found on Goodreads)
"I want to be a travel book, an inspirational, humorous travel book, Grandma." -Carol Vorvain, When Dreams are Calling

Dora is an adventurous young woman. She travels the world trying to find herself and the perfect career. If she stumbles upon the perfect man so be it. When Dreams are Calling is about Dora finding her dreams and listening to them. Find the official description on Goodreads.

Dora has a very clear and loud voice. Carol Vorvain uses this voice consistently and it's easy to catch Dora's personality from just reading what Carol Vorvain has written. Even if we didn't have any dialogue or any interaction with other characters. Not to mention the journal notes that are interspersed throughout When Dreams are Calling. It's clear to see Dora's personality shine through and be brought to life. It was almost as if Dora was a real person and I was watching her from afar as she went through her adventures.

I loved the little rhymes at the beginning of each chapter. They gave little clues to what could potentially be happening in the next chapter and it was fun to read them. They were just little silly rhymes that make the readers laugh.

Readers are also given a glimpse into new cultures and even better we get to see it from the prospective of a bouncy, energetic young woman. Being Canadian I, of course, loved the time that Dora spent in Canada and seeing Canada from a different light. I especially loved this quote when she was talking about Tim Horton's: "It's the hidden daily tax Canadians pay for living in the country of the snowman." It made me chuckle and I enjoyed it.

When Dreams are Calling is all about Dora's growth throughout her life. In real life it's hard to see all of the different situations that make a person who they are or even those that shape you until later in life. So I enjoyed the chance to follow Dora and see those situations that defined her, and helped her to grow. It gave me something to aspire to and I hope that some of the lessons Dora learned I will remember.

When Dreams are Calling is a touching story about a young woman's growth and experiences. It's an inspiring tale and one I believe that everyone should read at least once.

This book was amazing! It grabs reader’s attention from the very beginning and also draws the readers into the story. Not only that, but it’s emotionally charged from the very beginning. I kept being drawn deeper and deeper into the story because of the level of emotion that was displayed and the insights that we are given into characters through their thoughts and actions. It wasn’t hard to find myself taking their place and feeling their pain as well as their joy, although that was few and far between.
