Lucas by V.A. Dold!

(Image found on Goodreads)

Lucas is finally the proud owner of his own ranch and is settings things up. Unbeknownst to him, Krystal has a special ability...and she's found his mate. Kenzie is a workaholic who comes to visit her sister. And yet, she's already managed to flatten the ranch's owner, make her sister mad and fall for Lucas, even while knowing she's leaving soon. But when her life is threatened, will she trust Lucas to help her? Or will she try to face it alone? Find the official description on Goodreads.

The novel starts with a familiar scene; Emma praying to the goddess and discovering the mate of her son Lucas. But it's different in the way that it isn't set in New Orleans. Lucas has moved and with him his cousin Krystal. There's also the fact that Lucas is going on during some of the events that take place in the Cade and Anna novella. So those two things set Lucas apart from the series already.

Lucas was certainly a knowledgeable character and so the author must have done her research and done it thoroughly. That was well done. Not to mention all of the characters mentioned in the book were well developed already, and if they weren't they developed as characters throughout Lucas. Kenzie was certainly an interesting character that knew what she wanted and worked hard to get it.

Lucas dealt with a lot of different emotions but never once did I feel overwhelmed with all of the things going on.

Lucas was a great read and I really cannot wait to read more about the Le Beaus or by V.A. Dold in general.

Simon by V.A. Dold

(Image found on Goodreads)
“He had no right to deny her happiness because he had issues.” -V.A. Dold, Simon

Simon has been trapped in wolf form ever since he returned from his tour of duty. Rose has not had the best of pasts and she runs from relationships. But when Travis, a crazy shifter with a plan and an employer comes after Simon’s mate, he will make sure to protect her. Find the official description on Goodreads.

It was amazing to see Simon’s past from his perspective. Hearing about it and experiencing it are two different things. Being taken into Simon’s past also let us understand more completely why he was stuck in wolf form and how important touch is to the shifters. It definitely made me empathize with him much more than I did in Cade.

Plus in Simon, we also got to see more interactions between some of our favorite characters(Cade and Anna, for one). It just made my day to be able to see more of their happy ending.

There was a bit of repetition in the beginning but since we got it from Rose’s or Simon’s perspective, it didn't seem too repetitive at all. In fact, it made things much more clearer as we could “hear” their thoughts. It definitely made things more interesting.

Then there was Rose. Again, she wasn't a skinny stick of a girl and she was far from perfect. But she was lovable and that made for a good book. Simon was also a gentleman and he also was courageous. Simon was working hard to get past his issues and it was great to see him finally succeed. Plus Rose’s reaction to the whole supernatural’s thing was just hilarious. I loved it!

Both Cade and Simon were different books from each other and there were very few similarities except in characters and parents meddling. And I have a feeling that Stefan’s book will be different as well as hilarious just from the sneak peek we got.

Simon is a great addition to the Le Beau Brothers series, and I can’t wait to read more!

Cade by V.A. Dold

(Image found on Goodreads)
“When she took his hand, his heart skipped a beat.” -V.A. Dold, Cade

Anna James has finally divorced her husband and moved to New Orleans, ready for a fresh start. What she doesn’t expect is to meet the man of her dreams, literally. For the past five years, Cade and Anna have been sharing dreams and so it comes as a shock to meet him in real life. Cade is a shifter, and has known about possibly having a mate but when he finally meets Anna, after missing her earlier, he can’t help but feel lucky. But fate has a plan and when Anna’s ex-husband brings trouble down on her, Cade is determined to keep his mate safe. But will he be able to protect her without scaring her away? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Cade was a good, strong read. It contained characters that seemed real as you and me, and the fact that we were given Anna's past(or at least some of it) as well as the dreams before she actually physically met Cade let the readers gain an insight into her personality. Although I don't agree with her reasoning for staying with her ex-husband I could at least understand them. We also can't forget that she also wasn't crazy skinny. I know, I know, not every book character is extremely thin or whatnot but it feels nice to have a women who has curves and we see the effects of society on her because of the fact she's not always comfortable in her own body. Then we were also introduced to Cade, *sigh*. He's the perfect guy, and reader's inner romantic will definitely be doing a lot of sighing over him.

There were also all kinds of different moments. There were drama filled moments(mostly with Anna's ex), romantic moments, and fun, amusing ones as well. I especially loved the interactions between the Le Beau family. There were a lot of moments that you just had to laugh or smile foolishly because of something that happened. It made for a fun read that kept the reader interested and motivated to keep reading.

Cade was a great read, and I would definitely enjoy reading it again. I cannot wait to read Simon, as there was a bit of a lead up in Cade as well as the fact that we met Simon and his story made want to learn more about him.
