The Harder I Fall by Jessica Gibson

"They say that time heals all wounds. I’m not sure I believe that. I
think some wounds go too deep, and they fester." -Jessica Gibson, The Harder I Fall

Becca Langer has had a difficult life. After her father is sent to jail, she must take care of her mother and younger brother. But she's determined to go to college and be able to support her brother even better. Dance is the only thing that she's let her indulge in. Enter Levi. He's the distraction that Becca can't avoid. But will Levi be strong enough and stubborn enough to break through Becca's walls? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Let me just say that wow, Becca really hasn't had an easy life. Definitely puts things into perspective for me. I really felt that Becca was real and I found myself feeling proud because she's doing her best with a terrible situation. Then there was Levi. I didn't connect with him as much and there were several times I'd love nothing better than to smack him. But still, he came around.

Then there's the fact that Becca has suffered from being labelled her entire life. And it's not necessarily all about her actions but those of her parents. It was different to see this and it definitely gives readers food for thoughts.

The only thing that I had against The Harder I Fall is that I felt as the book was almost speeding through much of that time, taking occasional breaks to slow down. But other than that, The Harder I Fall was a brilliant read and I'm glad that I was able to read it.
