EXCERPT:

Her face was stunning. Wide smile. White teeth and a good deal of them. Big eyes. Elegant nose. Soft cheekbones. All of this she highlighted with the expert use of makeup from what was clearly a gift of superior genes into something that shone like a Hollywood starlet.

A starlet of a stripper who looked a good deal like Dolly Parton, who also likely got home the night before, earliest, three in the morning, and was right then, only hours later, back on the stage helping another girl by teaching her some moves.

“Marcus, brother,” Smithie’s voice came at him. “You got a problem with the way I do business, and I give you reason to have that problem, then we have a talk. I don’t give you that reason, we don’t have conversations like this one. That’s our deal.”

Marcus listened to him while he watched Daisy talking to the other girl and then she ran across the stage, doing it gracefully in platform sandals, her stone-washed jeans tight on her ass and hips and all the way down her legs. Still, after she ran the four steps, she launched herself high, grabbing on to the pole at least three feet higher than she was, her body swinging around by just her hands.

When the swing ended, she climbed up the pole, hand over hand. Doing this quickly, taking herself up another four feet, she flipped her bottom half over, wrapping her skinny legs around the pole. She dropped back, her hair flowing down, and with her only hold on the pole being her legs, she arched her back and slid down slowly, somehow circling the pole as she did it.

She ended this doing a layout with her hands on the floor, her legs in slow and controlled movements coming over her head one after the other. Her hands pushing off, she was up.

Standing straight with perfect posture.

A Message from Kristen:

Dear Reader,

I’m beside myself with glee that this prequel to my Rock Chick series has been unleashed! There was some time when I never thought I’d write it. When I couldn’t be in that terrible place with Daisy. But I’m oh-so glad that she called to me, demanding her story be told so she could give it to me and now I can give it to you! I loved every moment spent with Daisy and Marcus. And I hope you do too!

~Kristen Ashley

kristen-ashley-headshotAbout Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Dreaming Up A Dare by Catherine Gayle(Kindle Worlds)

Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/Dare-Love-Dreaming-Kindle-Novella-ebook/dp/B01I0KL08W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468010661&sr=8-1&keywords=dreaming+up+a+dare

Alright! So Catherine Gayle wrote Dreaming up a Dare for the Dare to Love Kindle Worlds. It released yesterday but considering I was on vacation and our flight got delayed I was unable to post about it or my review, which really saddened me as I really enjoyed this story and I wanted to share on release day!

I'm really not certain how to explain why I enjoyed this book so much. But I'll try to break it down. First off, I've read almost all the hockey romances that Catherine Gayle has written and each one has been touching and both characters are so strong and deal with difficult situations throughout the books. This is just one reason that I love the books she writes. I found that Dreaming Up A Dare was much too short...because I really wanted more of Jackson and Pepper! While hockey didn't play as big a role in the novella as usually would be but that was fine as we watched Jackson and Pepper dance around their attraction and the relationship they wished to pursue.

It was great to get both perspectives so that we could understand how both felt and see that they had similar fears about changing their relationship.

I have yet to read any of the Dare to Love series but Catherine Gayle's inclusion of the characters from that series in this novella and their interactions with Jackson and Pepper make me eager to read them!

Sister Maple Syrup Eyes by Ian Brennan Promotional Post!

SISTER MAPLE SYRUP EYES
is one of the first books ever to be published from the historically underreported perspective on rape— from that of the lesser and oft-forgotten 'victim', the individual’s partner.

With terse lyricism, this novella radiates the anguish of attempting to repair a love and life shattered by violence. Through a series of deliberately concise and untitled chapters, the story erupts in a before/after chasm, culminating with the main character’s reaching a tentative peace with his past.

“I have read no better description of how a rapist humiliates and owns his/her victim, not only during the attack but long afterwards. Everyone should read, Sister Maple Syrup Eyes, this moving and poetic book, but especially those who discount the seriousness of rape.”

Jody Raphael
Author,
Rape is Rape: How Denial, Distortion, and Victim Blaming Are Fueling a Hidden Acquaintance Rape Crisis

“Ian Brennan has written a novella [Sister Maple Syrup Eyes]that will help make serious concerns around the issue of rape and domination, come to light. It is an intimate, honest and important cri de coeur (‘cry from the heart’). “
Magnus Toren
Executive Director,
Henry Miller Memorial Library

“With Sister Maple Syrup Eyes, Ian Brennan hits a major grief head-on: the rape and abuse that is epidemic.”
 Professor Diane Glancy,  Author,
The Reason for Crows and Stone Heart

“Rape doesn’t just affect the victim. In this poignant, usually untold account, Sister Maple Syrup Eyes deals with the long-term impact of rape on a relationship. Ian Brennan’s stark, vivid narrative mines the pain of love and the spiraling contamination of rape’s aftermath, as he acknowledges his own feelings of guilt-by-association. This is a brave and honest story of loss, and the urge to find redemption.”

Home Ice by Catherine Gayle!

(Image found on Goodreads)

Mattias Bergstrom never lets the Portland Storm players see his soft side. Only his sister who has Down Syndrome is allowed that pleasure. But when a young girl with Down Syndrome throws herself at one of his defense men, his heart melts and he finds himself falling in love with not only the little girl but her mother. Find the official description on Goodreads

Catherine Gayle always creates hockey romances that make me fall in love with each character. And this is no different. It was certainly a different experience though to get the perspective of the Coach, as that isn't frequently a thing that happens when it comes to hockey romances.

Another thing I like about Catherine Gayle's books is that each book has one thing that sets it apart as different, whether this be dealing with the aftereffects of rape or having a child with Down Syndrome. But these things that each female protagonist face set these books apart and again, Home Ice is no different in this respect.

The writing style as well as the characters are well thought out and enjoyable. I don't think there's ever been a Portland Storm character I've hated, just ones that slightly annoyed me before I was able to get to know them better.

If you're looking for something to get you through until Hockey Season comes then definitely give Catherine Gayle's Portland Storm series a look!

Solid Ground by Katherine McIntyre!

(Image found on Goodreads)

Mags Javiks has one day left until she boards a spaceship to start her ambassador training, one day in which to admit her love for her best friend Lex. To do so, she will have to trade the solid ground of a comfortable past relationship for the unknown frontier of a possible future together. Official description from Goodreads.

The writing in Solid Ground was really well done. At no time did I ever feel my reading experience was disrupted or anything less than great. The grammar and whatnot was on point and just the style of how Katherine read was intriguing.

Not to mention she deals with a topic that many face; regrets. And I think the debating of Mags over her regrets and what she would have changed is something that resonated deeply with me. Just that topic was enough for me to think back and find things to think about.

It was painful and sad but a quick read. So the pain doesn't last as long as it could. But Katherine McIntyre has written a marvelous story.

Hot Seal by Lynn Raye Harris!

(Image found on Goodreads)

Ivy and Dane have a past, one that isn't the most pleasant. But when they are forced to work together, it's obvious the sparks are still there. But will the same problems mean that history is repeating itself? Find the official description on Goodreads.

Hot Seal was an amazing novella! It was hard to put down and I found myself wishing the hours to hurry up so I could finish it. The first glimpse we get of Dane and Ivy is in their shared past and they seem quite happy. Honestly I was at a loss as to how they became exes with the way they were acting in the memory. But then the story came out. It seemed both were to blame for their mistakes.

We also got to see some familiar faces as always. It was great to see them interact as a team again, and see how they would react to the addition of Dane. And we also got to meet the SEAL Team, who from the looks of it will fit in perfect with the HOT Team.

It was laughs and action and the amazing style of writing by Lynn Raye Harris. You won't be disappointed if you pick up this novella and read the rest of the Hostile Operations Series!

Carry My Home by Lia Riley Launch Day Blitz!

CARRY ME HOME by Lia Riley (May 5, 2015; Forever Yours Novella; $0.99)
Love doesn't have to be perfect to be true...
Years ago, Tanner Green loved Sunny Letman. She was meant to be his first kiss, first love, first everything. Then their world spun upside-down and out of control. Free-spirited Sunny doesn't do commitment. Sure, guys are great for a night or a week, but she always leaves first. That is, until professional skateboarder and town golden boy, Tanner Green, unexpectedly walks back into her life.

Despite their broken history, a fragile and undeniably electric connection still holds them together. Now Tanner has to convince Sunny that even though love isn't always perfect, it's worth sticking around for. . .

Buy Links:

Excerpt:

Tanner is in the shower when I let myself inside. There’s a wooden rocking chair in the corner. I walk over, sit and close my eyes. He’s naked, soapy, skin flushed from the hot spray. I could join him. He wants me. The space between my legs throbs to the beat of my heart. What’s set in motion between us isn’t going to stop.
I rock, straighten my backbone and focus my attentions. Imagine each breath spiraling through the open door, to the sky, leaving the atmosphere. A quiet prayer. Please. Please don’t let me fuck this up. My hands grip the rocking chair sides hard, hands that ache to touch his wet skin.
The water turns off and he’s out, rubbing a towel over his body.
I’m going for it, can’t help myself.
I tried my best to be my own island.
Turns out my best isn’t nearly good enough.
The door opens and he stands, backlit in a tight white t-shirt and  pair of low slung jeans. His mop of hair is wet, slicked back from his striking face.
“Good, you’re back,” he says. “I didn’t like you out there alone.”
“I was fine, nothing scary outside.”
He frowns, catching my double meaning. “I decided to sleep in the back of my car.”
“No, it’s fine.”
“I don’t mind.”
Of course he doesn’t. He’d sleep on bare concrete if he thought it would be easier for me.
“I get it.” He backs toward the door. “Tonight’s been extreme. You want space. I’ll go--”
“Stop.” I’m in the darkest corner, in this rocking chair throne, the Queen of the Shadows. There’s a great mystery at work. How can my heart be chained to this guy and still feel free?
A bead of water drops from his thick hair and falls to his shoulder. Then another. Tiny wet patches appear on his shirt each time one makes impact. The way he watches me, his gaze writes a secret poem on my skin. “Tell me you don’t want me,” he says. “Say you’re not interested and nothing will happen.”
I want to curl in a ball. Instead, I stand up.
“Sunny,” he whispers, and it’s hard to know if he intends my name as a question or an answer. Funny, the way it sounds like both.
My lids flutter closed of their own volition as he closes the distance. He’s tall enough that when he bends, his face buries into the top of my head. He inhales as if I’m a secret flower. I wish I only ever bloomed for him. A stupid notion. This moment would be perfect if it wasn’t us. If we were other people.
I hook my fingers into his belt loops and do an uncharacteristic fumble, aim too high and brush his stomach instead. His abdominal muscles flex and there’s my cue to explore. I can’t help but inch under the cotton, trace the thick muscles that make up his defined V-line. My nails gently cut to the top of his jeans. His groan vibrates into my skull.
He’s slipping,  less careful with every ragged breath. His skin heats under my fingertips. There’s no choice. There’s never been with him.
I rock into him, hard, and his mouth explodes on mine like a wet, hot grenade. He bites my lower lip and even though I’m scared, I’m not scared of him anymore.

Review:

All Your Reasons certainly is off to an interesting start. And Nina doesn't disappoint with Presley and Jett. Presley is a headstrong woman who knows what she wants and can handle and is a bit not in your face but she's not afraid to be vocal. Jett is the kind of guy any girl could wait for. All wrapped up in the sexy rock star cloth.

And due to the fact that it was novella length it was a quick read. But it was also a quick read because the writing and characters draw you in, the plot is simple and more emotional then action packed.

I can't wait to read more about Jett and Presley! It's sure to be an interesting ride.

EXCERPT

He slowly moves his face away from mine and drinks some of his drink.  As he places the glass back on the bar, he says, “I’m Jett.”

“Presley.”

A smile tugs at his lips.  “Your parents are Elvis fans?”

“My mother is and my father is blinded by love.  She could have called me Elvis and he wouldn’t have blinked.”

This inspires a laugh out of him.  “Your parents are still happily married?”

“Yeah, go figure.  How many marriages do you know of that are still going strong after thirty years?”

His eyes twinkle.  “My parents are still happy after thirty-five years.  I guess you and I are like some weird science experiment.  It kinda sucks, really.”

Frowning, I ask, “Why?”

He throws the rest of his drink back, his eyes still twinkling.  “When you don’t come from a fucked-up family, you can hardly blame your issues on your parents, can you?  Nope, you and me, we have to own our fucking issues.”

I burst out laughing.  “You are so right.  Shit, pass me my drink, I can’t cope with this knowledge.”

Shaking his head, he holds my drink away from me.  “Bad idea, sweetheart.  You have no one to blame your alcoholism on except yourself.  I suggest you give up alcohol straight away and find a new vice that’s not as socially unacceptable as alcohol addiction.”

Oh, this is fun.  I raise my eyebrows.  “What do you suggest?”

He doesn’t even hesitate.  “Sex addiction.  Take that shit up.  Much easier to hide from public view.  And a lot more fucking fun than dealing with hangovers.”

“I wouldn’t know the first thing about taking that up.  You think you could help me with that?”

He pulls a face like it’s the hardest question he’s ever been asked.  Nodding, he says, “Sure.  You want to get started now?”

My core clenches at the thought, and I lean into him and say, “You’ve no idea how much I want to get started on that now, Jett.”

He sucks in a breath, and his hand curls around my neck.  “You sure?  Because once I’m finished with you, you’re going to have an addiction that will be hard to kick.”

Bitter Sweet Deception by Tara Oakes Release Blitz!

WARNING***
This novella is intended for those 18+ of age and contains strong language, sexual content, and adult situations.

The Kingsmen M.C's saga continues in this newest installment of Tara Oakes' tantalizing new series. In the first three novella's you've come to know and love the characters within the club. Jay and Lil's have had their epic love story play out over the pages of "A Lil' Less Broken", followed by "A Lil' Less Lost" and finally, "A Lil' Less Hopeless". While their fairytale is far from over, the next arc in the series concentrates on some of the other intriguing characters that have been woven throughout Jay and Lil's storyline.

The question on everyone's mind is.... WHO IS CHARLIE? And what is she hiding?
Planting herself deep within the club's inner circle, Charlie came to Chisolm with one goal in mind... to destroy the Kingsmen, M.C., no matter the personal cost. An unknown hatred fuels her mission to take them down. Pairing herself up with one of the club's bad boy's, the M.C.'s enforcer, Clink, seemed like just the ticket to get her in the door.

Once inside the club she had been eyeing from afar, she comes to realizes things are very different from what she had imagined them to be. Villainizing the group as a whole for an injustice that was done to her many years earlier no longer seemed to fit with growing attachments and relationships she was forming.

And then there's Clink. He may very well be the wild card thrown into the mix that derailed Charlie's plans from the get go. Originally, serving as nothing but a way in to the club, and a body to warm her sheets at night, Clink has thrown Charlie for a loop. Determined from an early age to never need a man, Charlie can't help but find herself drawn to him in a carnal and ethereal way. She's tried to fight it, to deny it, but it was in vain. He calls her sugar... but, she's anything but sweet.

A chance twist of luck placed Charlie right in the middle of club politics, where she was able to help free the club's Vice President, Jay, from serving time for murder he did not commit, but willingly confessed to in Book 2. Her risk earned her the hard earned respect and admiration that is hard to come by in the world of the M.C.

Now that she finally has a place of her own in life, a place where she belongs and is wanted... is she willing to give it up? Give Him up? Willing to let it all slip through her fingers? Find out in Book 4 of Tara Oakes' Kingsmen M.C. series, "Bitter Sweet Deception"

Review:

I wasn't sure how I would react to this book. Jay and Lil's story as the main characters has come to an end and I really wasn't sure that I could love anyone else as much as I loved the two that introduced me to Tara Oakes as an author. But then Charlie came on the scene and I fell in love. And Clink with Charlie is a beautiful thing to see.

I did not expect who Charlie would be. It was a lot more innocent than I thought but at the same time it's bad enough to cause waves. And not good waves either.

The plot kept you reading on and that cliffhanger is just going to have me begging for more and soon! This week seems to be amazing for MC Romances and I can't wait to see more of Charlie and Clink's story come to light!
